UGC NET Law Eligibility Criteria 2026

According to the UGC NET law 2026 eligibility criteria as stated by the NTA:  

• Candidates must have an LL.M. or equivalent master's degree from a UGC-recognized university  
• They must score at least 55% of marks  
• Reserved categories (OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC, ST, PwD, and Third Gender Candidates) and Ph.D. Holders (before September 19, 1991) get a 5% relaxation on minimum marks.  

Candidates who have an ongoing master's degree or awaiting results may apply provisionally in the final year. However, they must complete the degree with the required percentage within two years of the NET result declaration, or the result is treated as cancelled.  

No upper age limit applies to the NET-only qualification.  

Note for JRF candidates: Age limit of 30 years or below as of the notification's cutoff date (relaxation up to 5 years for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, and female candidates).  

UGC NET Law Application Form 2026 

The UGC NET Law application form 2026 for the December cycle will open on the official NTA UGC NET portal once the notification is released.  

You can apply for the exam following the given steps:

• Enter your basic details including name, DOB, mobile number, email  
• Log in using the application number and the password you set  
• Fill-in your academic details and select your subject (Law)  
• Upload your photo and other documents

As per the UGC NET law exam pattern stated by NTA, it will have two computer-based, objective-type papers:
