Top Law Entrance Exams in India

CLAT

The Common Law Admission Test is the top law entrance exam conducted by the Consortium of NLUs. It is a national level examination conducted for admission to UG and PG courses at 22 NLUs across India. Along with NLUs, the CLAT score is accepted by other private colleges. The CLAT Exam is an offline mode of exam conducted in pen and paper mode. 

  • Subjects Included - English including Comprehension, Current Affairs including General Knowledge, Quantitative Techniques, Legal Reasoning, and Logical Reasoning
  • Total number of questions - 150 MCQs
  • Total Marks - 150
  • Exam Duration - 2 Hours

AILET

The All India Law Entrance Test is conducted by the NLU Delhi for admission into various UG and PG law courses. AILET Exam is an offline mode of exam i.e, pen and paper mode. This is also similar to CLAT. 

  • Subjects Included - English including Comprehension, Current Affairs including General Knowledge, Quantitative Techniques, Legal Reasoning, and Logical Reasoning
  • Total number of questions - 150 MCQs
  • Total Marks - 150
  • Exam Duration - 2 Hours

DU LLB

DU LLB is a separate entrance exam conducted for 3 years LLB course for admission to its three law centres i.e, Campus Law Center, Law Center I, and Law Center II. This is an online mode of exam conducted across India by Delhi University. 

  • Subjects Included - English including Comprehension, Analytical Ability, Legal Awareness and Aptitude, and General Knowledge 
  • Total number of questions - 100 MCQs
  • Total Marks - 400 marks
  • Exam Duration - 2 Hours

SLAT

The Symbiosis Law Admission Test is an entrance exam conducted by Symbiosis International University every year for admission to UG law courses. SLAT or SET law is an offline mode of exam, but last year due to unexpected situations it was conducted in online proctored mode. 

  • Subjects - Analytical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension and GK
  • Total questions - 90 questions
  • Total marks - 90 marks 

LSAT

Law School Admission Council (LSAC) conducts the law entrance exam every year for admission to undergraduate as well as postgraduate law schools in India. Earlier, Pearson VUE conducted the LSAT India examination on behalf of LSAC. However, since 2020 LSAC has set up Discover Law to conduct the examination.

  • Subjects - Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning 1 & 2 and Reading Comprehension
  • Total questions - 92 questions
  • Total time duration - 2 hours 20 minutes

MH CET Law

The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test cell conducts the entrance examination every year for admission to 3 years and 5 year LLB courses. The MH CET Law exam is conducted in online mode.

  • Subjects - English, Logical and Analytical Reasoning, General Knowledge including Current Affairs, Mathematical Aptitude
  • Total questions - 150 questions
  • Total Marks - 150 marks
  • Total time duration - 2 hours
