The National Law University of Delhi will start the online AILET counselling registration to admit students for 123 seats for the BA LLB course and 81 seats for the LLM course soon. 

Here are some key highlights of the AILET Counselling 2026 procedure :

• The last date for registration will be announced soon.
• If your name is on the AILET merit list, you must pay the admission-cum-counselling fee and complete the admission process on or before the last date.
• Check the AILET Result 2026 and confirm if your score is above the cut-off because then only you will receive a call letter through email and speed post to attend the counselling procedure. 
• NLU, Delhi, issues a category-wise provisional merit list of only those aspirants who completed the counselling registration and paid the fees of National Law University Delhi within the stipulated time.
• The online AILET counselling registration fee falls under two categories:

1. For General/Kashmiri Migrants/Residents of Jammu and Kashmir, the fee is Rs. 30,000
2. For ST/SC/OBC/EWS/PwD categories, the fee is Rs. 20,000

Eligibility Criteria for AILET 2026 Counselling Participation

• The AILET 2026 Counseling Invite List includes candidates shortlisted for participation in the counselling process.
• This list will be published on the NLU Delhi admission portal immediately following the declaration of AILET 2026 results.
• You will be shortlisted for counselling based on your respective categories.
• Eligible candidates from the Invite List will then be required to complete an online registration process to proceed with the counselling phase.

Detailed Steps for AILET Counselling Process 2026

The university will issue a call letter for counselling after the declaration of results. There are four steps involved in the NLU admission process, and those are as follows:

• Check your roll number in the invite list
• Commencement of counselling
• Release of first provisional admission list
• Pay balance fee

Step 1 - Check Your Roll Number in the Invite List

• You will be invited for online counselling registration based on the AILET merit, with approximately three times the number of candidates corresponding to the available seats in each category.
• It's advised to log in to your AILET account to confirm if you have received an invitation for online counselling registration.
• Additionally, eligible candidates will receive an email or SMS on their registered email ID or mobile number for AILET 2026, inviting them to participate in the online counselling registration process.
• The invite list includes only names of aspirants who will score above the cut-off for AILET 2026 The invite list will be released separately for both UG and PG admissions.
• You will only be eligible to appear in the AILET Counselling process if your name is on the invite list.

Step 2 - Commencement of Counselling

You will be required to pay the counselling fee and submit the original documents and copies for verification to appear for the counselling process.

The admission officials will verify all the documents about admission requirements and keep the copies with themselves.

Documents Required for AILET Counselling 2026

You need to upload the following documents without fail while registering for online counselling. Otherwise, your candidature will be cancelled.

1. AILET 2026 Admission Letter
2. AILET Scorecard 2026
3. AILET admit card
4. Self-Attested copy of Class 10 marks statement
5. Self-Attested copy of Class 12 marks statement
6. Self-Attested copy of Character Certificate from the school/college last attended
7. Category certificate (if applicable)
8. Transfer certificate
9. Demand draft for the admission fee
10. Passport size photographs

• If your submitted documents do not meet the eligibility criteria of AILET, the university will debar you from the admission process.
• It would help if you collected the acknowledgement slip after the payment of the counselling fee.

Step 3 - Release of First Provisional Admission List

NLU Delhi will release the provisional admission and waiting lists after completing AILET Counselling.

The provisional list includes the names, roll numbers, and marks of shortlisted students under various categories.

If there are any leftover vacancies after the first round of the admission process, the university will release another provisional allotment list for the second and subsequent rounds.

Step 4 - Pay Balance Fee

If you are shortlisted for admission, you must pay around Rs.82,500 as the balance course fee, which is 75,000 for the LLB course.

If you cannot complete the admission process within the deadline, you will be disqualified, and your counselling will not be returned.

AILET Counselling Fee 2026 

• Provisionally Selected Candidates are required to submit a Provisional Admission Confirmation Fee of Rs. 50,000.00 within the specified timeframe.
• Failure to comply will automatically cancel the provisional admission offer, resulting in forfeiture of the counselling fee. No extensions will be granted.
• The Rs. 50,000.00 Provisional Admission Confirmation Fee must be paid using the same login (AILET 2026 account) used for Online Counselling registration.
• Upon payment, candidates must promptly download their Provisional Admission Offer Letter from their AILET-2026 account.
• To accept the provisional admission offer, candidates need to sign each page of the provisional admission offer letter and upload it, along with a signed undertaking from both the candidate and parents, to their AILET-2026 account

Refund Process of AILET Counselling Fee 2026 

NLU Delhi will refund the counselling fee of only such students who have successfully registered for the counselling and paid the counselling fee. However, due to a higher AILET cut-off, could not find a place in the provisional merit list of the respective categories for admission.

The University will initiate the refund after completing the counselling procedure or upon completion of the admission process, whichever is earlier.

The counselling fee will be refunded to the same account from which it will be paid. No requests to deposit it in any other account will not be entertained.
