Key Highlights

• The CUET 2024 question paper PDF is available in official form from NTA, which published subject-wise papers, provisional answer keys and OMR scans on 7 July 2024, with the final answer key on 25 July 2024.

• CUET UG 2024 was the first and only edition conducted in hybrid mode — 15 subjects on pen-and-paper OMR sheets, 48 subjects as computer-based tests.

• Papers carried 50 questions with a choice of 40 (General Test: 60 questions, attempt 50). Maximum marks were 200 per subject, or 250 for the General Test.

• Difficulty was uneven rather than uniformly easy. Chemistry, Mathematics and Accountancy were the pressure points; Biology, Economics, History and Political Science drew heavily and directly from NCERT.

What Is the CUET 2024 Question Paper?

The CUET 2024 question paper is the official set of subject-wise test papers used in the third edition of the Common University Entrance Test for undergraduate admission, conducted by the National Testing Agency in May 2024. "Paper" in the singular is slightly misleading.

CUET is not one paper. A candidate in 2024 could select up to six subjects from 63 options, so every student sat a different combination, and NTA generated multiple sets and shifts for each subject.

What NTA released after the exam, and what students now download, is the archive of those individual subject papers together with the answer keys.

Why this particular paper still matters in 2026

Three reasons, in order of importance.

The CUET 2024 question paper is the last large-scale paper set under the old choice-based format.

Understanding how NTA framed 50 questions when it expected you to skip 10 tells you something about which questions were designed as the difficult tail. Those are exactly the questions you can no longer skip.

The CUET 2024 question paper has the broadest subject coverage of any CUET edition.

Sixty-three subjects, including several since discontinued.

If you are researching how CUET treats a niche domain subject, 2024 is the richest archive available.

It sits on the fault line

Compare 2024 with 2025 and 2026, and you can see NTA's direction of travel: fewer subjects, uniform timing, no optionality, tighter NCERT alignment. That trajectory is the most useful predictive signal a 2027 aspirant has.

What the paper is not

It is not a syllabus substitute, and it is not a pattern guide any more. Students routinely make both mistakes.

Treat the CUET 2024 question paper as evidence of what gets asked, and treat the current CUET exam pattern as the authority on how it gets asked.

What Was the Exam Pattern of CUET 2024?

The structure behind the CUET 2024 question paper was materially different from the one in force today, so read this section as history rather than as instruction.

Two numbers in that table deserve a second look.

The 40-of-50 choice. This is the defining feature of the 2024 paper and the reason it cannot be used as a timing simulation today.

A 2024 candidate could scan the paper, discard the ten hardest questions, and lose nothing. Accuracy mattered far more than coverage.

Maximum 200 marks, not 250. Because only 40 questions counted, a perfect domain score in 2024 was 200.

When you see "8,024 students scored full marks in Business Studies," full marks means 200.

Current papers are out of 250. Any score comparison across these years needs rescaling, which is why our CUET marking scheme breakdown is worth reading before you benchmark yourself against 2024 numbers.

The hybrid mode experiment

2024 was the only year CUET UG ran in two modes simultaneously. High-registration subjects went to OMR sheets to ease centre logistics; the rest stayed CBT. NTA reverted to CBT-only from 2025.

For practice purposes, this matters in one specific way: the OMR-mode 2024 papers were designed for a paper-and-pencil workflow, with no on-screen calculator-style navigation, no mark-for-review, and no question palette. Practising them on paper builds a habit you then have to unlearn.

The subjects that no longer exist — check this before you practise

This is the most consequential filter on the whole page, and almost no competing article mentions it.

Six subjects available in 2024 were removed when the subject list was cut from 63 to 37 for 2025, and they remain unavailable:

Admissions to programmes that previously used these papers now rely on General Aptitude Test scores instead. If one of these appears in your 2024 download folder, delete it.

Practising it is time spent on a paper that will never be set again. 

Students choosing subjects now should work backwards from their target university's programme requirements rather than from the 2024 list.

What Questions Were Asked in the CUET 2024 Exam?

The tables in this section report topic-level weightage observed across CUET 2024 shifts, compiled from published coaching-sector analyses of the paper. Read them as directional, not exact.

Two honest caveats before the data, because they change how you should use it:

These counts are aggregated across sets and shifts. In several subjects, the topic counts sum to more than 50 — the Mathematics breakdown below totals roughly 70 questions, which is impossible for a single 50-question paper.

That is a signal that the analysis pools multiple sets. Use the tables to rank topics by importance, not to predict "there will be exactly 14 matrix questions."

Difficulty ratings are student-reported. They reflect perception, not psychometric calibration, and they vary with the reader's own preparation.

What English Questions Were Asked in CUET 2024?

Within the CUET 2024 question paper, the Day 1 English section was rated easy overall, with comprehension carrying disproportionate weight.

What this actually tells you: roughly half the English paper sat inside comprehension passages, and comprehension was the hardest-rated component of an otherwise easy paper.

Students who drilled vocabulary lists and neglected passage practice were optimising the wrong half.

What General Test Questions Were Asked in CUET 2024?

The General Test consistently drew easy-to-moderate ratings, with quantitative aptitude dominating.

Within quantitative aptitude, the recurring topics were simplification, HCF-LCM, percentage, ratio, profit and loss, time and work, simple interest, mensuration (area, volume), trigonometry basics, averages and ages.

Nothing exotic. The section rewarded speed on Class 8–10 arithmetic rather than depth.

General awareness was the least predictable block, spread thin across geography, polity, science, awards, defence and sports.

Mathematics was the toughest-rated domain paper in the CUET 2024 question paper set, alongside Chemistry.

Chemistry opened the exam on 15 May and was the hardest-rated paper of Day 1, described as tougher than the corresponding board paper.

In a paper where a single mark swing costs six marks of relative position under +5/−1, a single unanswerable question is a legitimate reason to leave a blank rather than guess.

Official answers to the CUET 2024 question paper come from the NTA final answer key dated 25 July 2024. That document, matched to the correct subject and paper code, is the only source that settles a disputed answer.

How to score yourself correctly

Use the 2024 formula, then convert:

2024 raw score = (5 × correct) − (1 × incorrect)

Maximum = 200 per domain/language subject (250 for General Test)

To compare against current papers:

Equivalent 2026-pattern score = (2024 raw score ÷ 200) × 250

A 2024 score of 160/200 is 80%, which maps to 200/250 on the current scale.

Students routinely quote their 2024 raw score as though it were comparable to a current mock score and conclude they have improved when they have not.

What Was the Section-Wise Analysis of the CUET 2024 Question Paper?

Languages. With comprehension around half the paper, the section was a reading-throughput test. Candidates who read all three passages before answering ran out of time; those who worked passage by passage did not.

Domain subjects. The consistent verdict across the cycle was that questions came "directly from NCERT." This is the most reliable finding in the whole 2024 analysis, and it has held in every subsequent cycle. NCERT line-level familiarity beats reference-book depth in CUET.

General Test. The most variable section, because general awareness cannot be bounded. Numerical ability was the controllable part and the largest part. A student who secures the ~20-25 arithmetic questions has effectively secured the section, which is the logic behind our CUET General Test preparation sequencing.

How Did the CUET 2024 Question Paper Vary Across Different Shifts?

Across the eight exam days, the CUET 2024 question paper showed near-negligible differences in structure and only mild variation in difficulty. The pattern held; the content rotated.

Why Should You Practise the CUET 2024 Question Paper?

Four defensible reasons, and one common reason that does not hold up.

1. It calibrates your expectations against reality

Working through CUET 2024 sample questions with answers is the fastest way to do this. Students consistently over-prepare for difficulty and under-prepare for volume.

The CUET 2024 question paper shows an exam that asks straightforward NCERT questions under real-time pressure.

That is a different preparation problem from the one most students imagine they have.

2. The CUET 2024 question paper exposes where NTA actually draws from

Repeated across every subject analysis: questions came directly from NCERT Class 12 text.

Practising the CUET 2024 question paper trains you to recognise NCERT phrasing, which is a genuine, transferable skill.

3. It gives you a weightage map

Cross-referencing the CUET 2024 question paper's topic distribution with 2023 and 2025 reveals which chapters are structurally heavy rather than incidentally heavy.

Matrices in Mathematics, electricity and magnetism in Physics, genetics in Biology, partnership in Accountancy, comprehension in English. Those are stable.

4. It builds error-pattern awareness

Under +5/−1 marking, your error profile matters more than your knowledge profile.

Attempting a full past paper and then classifying each mistake as conceptual, careless or time-driven is the single most productive hour in CUET preparation.

5. The reason that does not hold up: "practising past papers predicts the questions."

It does not. Papers rotate across sets and shifts, and NTA has restructured the exam twice since 2024. Practise the CUET 2024 question paper to build capability, not to memorise items.
