If you are preparing for IPMAT 2027, one of the most useful resources you can use to get an understanding of the actual exam pattern is the IPMAT Indore 2026 Question Paper.

A syllabus or a practice exam doesn't show you precisely how IIM Indore set the questions, balanced the difficulty level, and tested the concepts under actual exam conditions, whereas the previous year's paper does.

The IPMAT Indore 2026 exam had a total of 90 questions carrying 360 marks and was made up of three sections:

  • Quantitative Ability (Short Answer)
  • Quantitative Ability (MCQ)
  • Verbal Ability

Each of which was given 40 minutes.

You are able to download the IPMAT Indore 2026 Question Paper PDF together with the answers on this page, look at the section-wise analysis, get an idea of the difficulty level, and find out the expected IPMAT Indore cut-off score according to the exam feedback available.

IPMAT Indore 2026 Question Paper Pattern

The IPMAT Indore 2026 examination followed the same broad structure seen in recent years:

90 questions for 360 marks, split across three sections, with 40 minutes allotted to each section.

Current exam analyses also identify Quantitative Ability MCQ as the more time-consuming part of the paper.

Section Question Type No. of Questions Max Marks Time
Quantitative Ability (Short Answer) Short Answer (TITA) 15 60 40 min
Quantitative Ability (MCQ) Objective (MCQ) 30 120 40 min
Verbal Ability (MCQ) MCQ + TITA 45 180 40 min
Total 90 360 120 min

IPMAT Indore 2026 Marking Scheme

For the MCQ sections, a correct answer carries +4 marks, while an incorrect answer carries −1 mark. The Short Answer section has no negative marking.

This makes question selection particularly important in QA-MCQ and Verbal Ability. You don't need to attempt everything just because the question is sitting in front of you.

IPMAT Indore 2026 Question Paper Difficulty Level Over the Years

The overall paper was moderate, though the exact difficulty candidates experienced varied across sections.

The clearest common point in the available exam analyses is that QA-MCQ was the section that created the most pressure.

Students reported lengthy calculations and tricky questions, while Verbal Ability was generally more manageable.

Year / Question Paper QA (Short Answer) QA (MCQ) Verbal Ability Overall
IPMAT Indore 2026 Question Paper Easy Moderate Easy Moderate (Easier)
IPMAT Indore 2025 Question Paper Moderate Moderate Moderate Moderate
IPMAT Indore 2024 Question Paper Moderate Moderate Moderate Moderate

IPMAT Indore 2021 Question Paper Easy–Moderate Moderate Easy–Moderate Easy–Moderate
IPMAT Indore 2020 Question Paper Difficult Difficult Difficult Difficult
IPMAT Indore 2019 Question Paper Difficult Difficult Difficult Difficult

Different students and coaching analyses naturally vary on individual questions and topic counts, so treat the table as a broad assessment rather than an official difficulty rating.

IPMAT Indore 2026 Quantitative Ability (Short Answer) Analysis

The Short Answer section had 15 questions for 60 marks and no negative marking.

The 2026 questions covered several familiar areas of Quantitative Ability. Arithmetic was particularly useful for students who had their basics in place.

Data Arrangement Set 3
Inequalities 3
Matrices 1
Geometry 1
Number System 1
Linear Equation 1

IPMAT Indore 2026 Quantitative Ability (MCQ) Analysis

The 30-question MCQ section was more demanding than QA-SA in the IPMAT Indore 2026 Question Paper.

The available analysis points towards a broad mix of topics, with Coordinate Geometry, DI, Arithmetic, Permutation & Combination, Probability and Progressions featuring prominently.

Topic No. of Questions
Topic No. of Questions
Coordinate Geometry 5
DI Set on Ratio (3 Nutrients: Calcium, Protein, Iron) 5
Arithmetic (Time & Work, Speed-Distance-Time, SI/CI) 3–4
Permutation & Combination 3
Probability 3
Progression 2–3
Number System 2–3
Geometry 2
Set Theory 1

The exact distribution can vary slightly between student-recalled and coaching-based analyses, so use these numbers to identify high-value preparation areas, not as an official topic-wise question count.

IPMAT Indore 2026 Verbal Ability Exam Analysis

Verbal Ability carried the highest number of questions, with 45 questions for 180 marks.

The section was generally considered easier than QA-MCQ, although vocabulary and Reading Comprehension required attention.

Reading Comprehension

The paper included three RC passages. Candidates had to understand the passage and infer the intended meaning rather than simply locate isolated facts.

The reported themes included:

  • How pets communicate
  • Rage bait
  • The Nile River

Verbal Ability Topic Breakdown

Area Details
Reading Comprehension 3 passages conceptual, inference-based
Vocabulary Heavy load; tested word usage & contextual meaning
Fillers (Double & Triple) 6 questions needed strong vocab + contextual judgment
Phrasal Verbs 3 questions
Idioms 3 questions (e.g. "cost an arm and a leg", "let the cat out of the bag", "keep one's head")
Grammar Tenses, Conditionals, Parallelism

The biggest lesson from VA

Reading regularly is still one of the simplest ways to prepare for this section.

A student with strong Quant skills but weak vocabulary can lose marks on questions that should otherwise be manageable.

On the other hand, regular reading makes unfamiliar passages and contextual vocabulary much less intimidating.

IPMAT Indore 2026 Exam Cut-Off

The IPMAT Indore exam result was declared on 25th May 2026. Here are the complete details of the category-wise cut-offs:

IPMAT Indore Category-Wise Cutoff 2026

NC-OBC 12 15 78
PwD 8 5 47
SC 12 10 65
ST 8 6 48

Common Mistakes in the IPMAT Indore 2026 Question Paper

The IPMAT Indore 2026 exam paper also highlights a few preparation mistakes that students should avoid.

1. Trying to Attempt All QA-MCQs

Negative marking means that more attempts do not automatically mean a better score.

2. Ignoring QA-SA

Some students may naturally gravitate towards MCQs and underestimate the Short Answer section. Since QA-SA has no negative marking, it deserves deliberate preparation.

3. Treating Vocabulary as a Last-Minute Topic

Vocabulary is difficult to build overnight. Make reading and contextual word learning part of your daily routine.

4. Spending Too Long on One Question

If a Coordinate Geometry problem or DI set is consuming too much time, move on and return later if the section permits.

5. Using Only One Year's Paper

One paper can show you what happened once.

Several papers show you what tends to repeat.

And once you have analysed the 2026 paper, move backwards through the recent papers. Compare the topics, difficulty, question styles and your own performance.
