IPMAT Indore 2025 Question Paper: Difficulty Level

IPMAT Indore 2025 Question Paper: Difficulty Level

The verdict is moderate to difficult — more difficult than in 2024 and certainly more difficult than in 2026.

Section 2025 difficulty
Quantitative Ability (SA) Easy to moderate
Quantitative Ability (MCQ) Moderate to difficult
Verbal Ability Moderate to difficult
Overall Moderate to difficult

IPMAT Indore 2025 Question Paper Pattern

Since 2022, IIM Indore has maintained the same structure used in the 2025 paper: 90 questions, 360 marks, and three sections timed by section.

Section Question Type No. of Questions Max Marks Time Negative marking
Quantitative Ability (Short Answer) Type-in numeric answer 15 60 40 min No
Quantitative Ability (MCQ) Multiple choice 30 120 40 min Yes, −1
Verbal Ability Multiple choice 45 180 40 min Yes, −1
Total 90 360 120 min

Scoring: four marks are awarded for each correct answer.

One mark is deducted for each incorrect answer in the two multiple-choice sections, and there is no penalty for a wrong answer in Quantitative Ability (Short Answer).

In 2025, it was the three features of this structure that had more influence than raw ability.

IPMAT Indore 2025 Question Paper: Section-Wise Analysis

The paper in 2025 seemed different from section to section; the QA (SA) part was relatively easy, the QA (MCQ) section was the most difficult part of the Quantitative section, and in the Verbal Ability section students had to balance their reading speed against their vocabulary and grammar.

IPMAT Indore 2025 Quantitative Ability (Short Answer) Analysis

The questions listed below depend on student recall and must therefore be regarded as memory-based questions.

  1. Find the minimum value of (m+n), where [7m+11n=200]and (m,n) are positive integers.
  2. If (ax^2+bx+5) leaves a remainder of 3 when divided by (x-1), and a remainder of 2 when divided by (x+1), find (a+b).
  3. Find the number of perfect-square factors of [3^5\times7^2\times5^8]
  4. Two infinite series start at 100. One increases in steps of 5, and the other decreases in steps of 5. Find the sum of the products of corresponding terms for the first 20 terms.
  5. When a girl was 18, she was one-third of her father's age. At what age will she be half her father's age?

These questions give a useful picture of the section: the concepts were familiar, but getting to the answer quickly mattered.

These are minimum qualifying marks, and they are simultaneous. You must clear all three.

A General candidate scoring 55 in QA-SA, 90 in QA-MCQ and 110 in VA — a strong 255 out of 360 — is eliminated for missing the VA cutoff by two marks.

The full year-on-year picture is on the IPMAT Indore cutoff page.

Conclusion

The IPMAT Indore 2025 question paper, from the exam held on 12 May 2025, was a moderate-to-difficult paper of 90 questions and 360 marks across three 40-minute sections.

Quantitative Ability (MCQ) was the hardest section — long and calculation-heavy. Quantitative Ability (SA) was the most approachable and carried no negative marking.

Verbal Ability sprang the paper's real surprise with a third reading comprehension passage.

Officially, General-category candidates needed 24, 28 and 112 in the three sections to clear the sectional gate — a total of 164 out of 360. Only 818 of 16,357 candidates who scored positively in all three sections managed it.

For an IPMAT 2027 aspirant, this paper's value is that it is harder than 2026 and comes with a verified benchmark attached.

Attempt it once, under real sectional timers. Score it section by section. Diagnose your errors into concept, application, calculation and timing buckets. Then work the largest bucket.

And keep the single most important number on this page in view: Verbal Ability is 50% of your Aptitude Test Score. Prepare accordingly.
