The academic council of Delhi University announced that the university provides undergraduate admissions for the academic session 2023-24 solely based on the performance in the Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET).

Not only this, the admissions to all minority colleges, including St. Stephen's college, will be done only through CUET scores from this year.

During the centralized counselling, authorities will prepare a separate merit list for unreserved category and minority students as per the reservation policies.

Coming to the context of the article, we have provided detailed information about DU Admissions to minority colleges through CUET 2023.

So, why late? Let's dive into the post to get complete details about the admission process, will admissions through CUET affect minority colleges and more.

What was the Admission Process at St. Stephen's College until now?

From this year, the admissions to St. Stephen's college are solely based on the CUET Exam 2023.

Earlier, St. Stephen's college, which reserves 50% of seats for Christian students, was conducting the admission process differently from DU, which used to provide admissions based on the cut-offs.

The college used to grant admissions based on the following factors:

  • 85% weightage was given to class 12
  • 15% weightage to written tests and interview

However, due to the ongoing crisis across the country, the college removed the written test and conducted interviews online last year.

Will DU Admissions through CUET Affect Minority Intake?

The minority colleges will in no way be affected adversely by the implementation of the Common Universities Entrance Test, Registrar Vikas Gupta said.

All colleges will follow the same reservation policy as they were doing till last year when admitting students to undergraduate courses.

Class 12 board marks will not carry any weightage in the CUET exam. However, the participating universities might use a certain percentage of class 12 marks as an eligibility criterion to apply for the test.

A separate merit list is prepared for the general category and minority students, and the college will hold CUET admissions solely based on the merit list.

Will CUET Conducts Interview for Admissions at Minority Colleges?

Since the detailed notification is not yet published, it is not sure whether CUET conducts interviews or not for providing admissions to minority colleges.

It is expected that Stephen's college may hold interviews for providing admissions to minority colleges, while other colleges won't be conducting the interview round.

Only based on the merit list, the admissions are provided to all central universities across the country.
