Rajasthan Judiciary Previous Year Question Paper Analysis

The Rajasthan Judiciary Previous Year Paper question analysis below is built on the RJS Prelims paper. Procedural laws and criminal laws together took 41 of the 70 law questions. That alone tells you where your first 60% of study hours should go.

  • Procedural Laws (CPC, BNSS and Limitation) accounted for 24 questions (24%), making it the most heavily represented area in the paper. This highlights the importance of thorough preparation of procedural provisions, along with regular revision and practice of application-based questions.
  • Criminal Laws (BNS, BSA and Allied Acts) contributed 17 questions (17%). The significant weightage makes a strong understanding of the new criminal law framework essential for RJS aspirants, particularly with respect to important provisions, concepts and their practical application.
  • English comprised 15 questions (15%), while Hindi also comprised 15 questions (15%). Together, the two language sections accounted for 30% of the paper, making them an important scoring area. Aspirants should therefore not treat the language papers as secondary and should incorporate regular practice into their preparation strategy.
  • Indian Contract Act and Commercial Laws contributed 11 questions (11%). The weightage of this section makes it important to develop conceptual clarity over fundamental principles as well as familiarity with important statutory provisions.
  • Local Rajasthan Acts accounted for 4 questions (4%). Though the numerical weightage was relatively low, these state-specific laws can give an opportunity for focused preparation and should be covered adequately.
  • Constitution of India contributed 2 questions (2%). Even with the limited number of questions, a basic command over important constitutional provisions and principles remains necessary for comprehensive preparation.
  • Other remaining laws and acts accounted for 1 question (1%). These subjects had comparatively lower representation in the 2025 paper, but complete syllabus coverage is suggested.

Benefits of Solving Rajasthan Judiciary Previous Year Papers

Solving Rajasthan Judiciary Previous Year Papers does more than test you. It shows you what to stop studying.

  • You see the real syllabus weightage - The official syllabus lists 25+ Acts. The papers show that CPC, criminal procedure and contract carry most of the marks.
  • You learn the examiner's style - RJS loves "which of the following is not correct" and section-number questions. Once you've seen 300-400 of them, the format stops slowing you down.
  • You fix your time problem early - Since recent papers were lengthy, timed practice tells you whether you need 90 seconds or 70 per question.
  • You catch repeat areas - Execution of decrees, limitation periods, dying declarations and free consent show up again and again across Rajasthan Judiciary Previous Year Papers.
  • You improve Hindi marks - The Hindi section has often been rated harder than English. Old papers are the best source of the technical Hindi vocabulary the court uses.
  • You prepare for Mains alongside Prelims - Mains PYQs train you in judgment writing and framing of issues, which no MCQ practice covers.

How to Effectively Use Rajasthan Judiciary Previous Year Papers?

Most aspirants download every PDF and solve none of them properly. Here's a method that works better.

  1. Read before you solve -  In the first month, go through the 2024 and 2025 Prelims papers without a timer. Mark every question you couldn't answer and note which Act it came from. That list becomes your study plan.
  2. Solve the latest two papers under exam conditions - Two hours, OMR sheet, phone in another room. Don't pause to check answers.
  3. Check against the official answer key - Use the Rajasthan High Court's final key, not a coaching key, since a few answers often change after objections.
  4. Map every wrong answer to a bare-act section - Then read the full section and its provisos, not just the line that was asked.
  5. Convert old criminal-law questions - For 2021 and earlier papers, rewrite each IPC, CrPC or Evidence Act section number as its BNS, BNSS or BSA equivalent. This one exercise teaches you the new codes faster than any notes.
  6. Keep an error log - A simple sheet with the question, the Act, why you got it wrong and the correct section. Revise it every Sunday.
  7. Re-solve after 30 days - If you get the same question wrong twice, the topic needs a fresh read, not a quick revision.

How to Prepare for Rajasthan Judiciary 2026 Exam?

The RJS 2026 notification hasn't been released yet (as of October 2026). Going by the last cycle, Prelims came about five months after the notification and Mains about 2.5 months after Prelims. So you likely have at least six months. Use them in phases.

Phase 1: Bare Acts and Rajasthan Judiciary Previous Year Papers (Months 1-2)

  • Go through the CPC, BNSS, BNS, BSA and Indian Contract Act bare acts line by line.
  • Solve the 2025 and 2024 Prelims papers untimed and build your error log.
  • Start the Hindi and English sections with 30 minutes of grammar and vocabulary daily.

Phase 2: Minor and Local Laws (Months 3-4)

  • Cover the Limitation Act, Specific Relief Act, Transfer of Property Act, Hindu laws and Registration Act.
  • Finish the Rajasthan Acts: Rent Control Act 2001, Land Revenue Act 1956, Court Fees and Suits Valuation Act 1961 and Excise Act 1950.
  • Solve the 2021, 2018 and 2017 papers, converting old criminal-law sections to the new codes.

Phase 3: Mocks and Mains Writing (Month 5 onwards)

  • Take at least two full-length mock test in the exact time duration like exams in a week.
  • Write one Mains answer daily: alternate between framing issues, framing charges and a short judgment.
  • Practise one Hindi and one English essay a week on legal or social topics.

Common Mistakes to Avoid While Using Rajasthan Judiciary Previous Year Papers

Candidates often focus heavily on completing the syllabus but overlook the way they practise and revise. The following mistakes can significantly affect performance in the RJS examination:

  • Solving previous-year papers using old/outdated section numbers: Questions from older papers may refer to the IPC, CrPC and Indian Evidence Act, whereas the current examination framework uses the BNS, BNSS and BSA. Aspirants should update older questions by identifying the corresponding provisions under the new criminal laws.
  • Collecting PDFs without actually solving them: Merely accumulating previous-year papers, test series and study material does not translate into preparation. The better approach is to solve at least one complete paper every week under examination conditions and analyse the mistakes afterwards.
  • Relying on unofficial answer keys: Differences can arise between coaching-institute answer keys and the final position adopted by the High Court. Aspirants should therefore verify disputed answers against the official final answer key wherever available.
  • Neglecting Hindi and English: The language sections carried 30 marks out of 100 in RJS Prelims 2025. Treating these subjects as secondary can result in the loss of relatively scoring marks. A consistent 30-minute daily practice routine can be more effective than last-minute preparation.
  • Ignoring Rajasthan-specific laws: Local Rajasthan Acts may have a smaller overall weightage, but they can provide an important scoring advantage. Aspirants should give focused attention to the prescribed Rajasthan Acts and revise them multiple times.
  • Memorising answers instead of understanding provisions: RJS may test the same legal principle through differently framed questions. Memorising isolated answers therefore offers limited value. Aspirants should read the complete statutory provision, understand its ingredients and exceptions, and pay attention to illustrations wherever provided.
  • Practising without a time limit: Untimed practice can create a false sense of preparedness. Since completing the paper within the prescribed time is itself a challenge, aspirants should gradually introduce strict time-bound practice, preferably under actual examination conditions.
