The MP ADPO exam analysis 2026 can be done only after the written exam on 1 November 2026.

For current analysis the most reliable strategy to analyse is the last MP ADPO exam conducted on 18 December 2022. It includes 150 questions for 450 marks, with 3 marks for each correct answer and 1 mark deducted for each wrong answer.

The 2022 law section was not built around the major criminal codes. Only 11 of its 100 law questions came from IPC, CrPC and the Evidence Act. 62 came from minor criminal acts such as POCSO, NDPS, the SC/ST Act and the Arms Act, and 10 from Madhya Pradesh state laws.

MP ADPO Exam Pattern 2026

The MP ADPO written exam pattern has 150 objective questions for 450 marks and is conducted  for 3 hours. It is divided into Part A (general knowledge) and Part B (law), and candidates must clear a minimum in each part separately.

The MP ADPO exam date has been rescheduled, so candidates has to plan their preparations accordingly.

Part Subject Questions Marks Minimum to qualify
Part A General knowledge of Madhya Pradesh, India and the world, including computers and current affairs 50 150 40% (30% for MP-domicile SC, ST and OBC candidates)
Part B Law 100 300 40% (30% for MP-domicile SC, ST and OBC candidates)
Total — 150 450 —

Candidates who clear the written cut-off goes to the next stage of a 50-mark interview, which makes the final merit list of 500 marks. Law carries two-thirds of the written marks. For more details related to syllabus, candidates can check MP ADPO syllabus 2026.

MP ADPO Exam Analysis 2026: What to Expect

The exam is rescheduled for 1st November 2026. The correct analysis can be done after the exam is conducted.Selected candidates join as Gazetted Class II officers in the Home Department; see MP ADPO salary 2026 for pay details.

The MP ADPO 2026 exam is likely to follow the same 150-question, two-part structure. The biggest change since 2022 is in criminal law: the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) replaced IPC, CrPC and the Evidence Act from 1 July 2024. This is the first MP ADPO paper since that change.

  • Major criminal laws: Expect questions on BNS, BNSS and BSA sections. Questions that match an old section to its new number, such as the remand rule now under BNSS, are a reasonable bet. Check the 2026 notification syllabus to see whether the old codes are also listed.
  • Minor and special acts: In 2022 these made up 74 of 100 law questions, counting civil minor acts. Even a smaller share in 2026 would still make them the largest block in Part B.
  • MP state laws: The 2022 paper had 10 questions from five state Acts. Revise the same five first, then the rest of the state laws in the syllabus.
  • Constitution: Only 4 questions in 2022, mostly on dates and specific articles.
  • Part A: Expect a strong Madhya Pradesh focus again, plus current affairs from roughly the 12 to 18 months before the exam and basic computer awareness.

These are expectations drawn from the 2022 paper and the legal changes since then. MPPSC can change the weightage, so candidates can only go through for reference.

MP ADPO Previous Year Exam Analysis (2022 Paper)

The last MP ADPO written exam was held on 18 December 2022. MPPSC released the provisional answer key within a day or two, and the result came out on 4 January 2023. The breakdown below is based on a question-by-question count of the official 2022 paper.

Section-Wise Analysis: Part B (Law)

Part B had 100 questions, and most of them tested minor and special acts rather than the major codes. The three major criminal codes together got just 11 questions.

Acts/Laws Questions (out of 100) What was asked
Minor criminal acts 62 20 acts, mostly 3 or 4 questions each
Civil minor acts 12 Domestic Violence Act, RTI Act and Essential Commodities Act (4 questions each)
Major criminal laws 11 IPC (3), CrPC (4) and Indian Evidence Act (4)
Madhya Pradesh state laws 10 5 state Acts, 2 questions each
Constitution of India 4 Commencement dates, amendments and Article 120
Judgment-based 1 Destruction of Public and Private Properties case (2009)

The minor criminal acts covered in 2022 were:

  • 4 questions each: Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Juvenile Justice Act, Wild Life (Protection) Act.
  • 3 questions each: POCSO Act, Dowry Prohibition Act, Indecent Representation of Women Act, NDPS Act, PCPNDT Act, IT Act, Prevention of Corruption Act, Motor Vehicles Act, National Security Act, Probation of Offenders Act, Explosives Act, Arms Act, Senior Citizens Maintenance Act, Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes Act, Food Safety and Standards Act.
  • 1 question: Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

The MP state laws were the MP Rajya Suraksha Adhiniyam 1990, MP Excise Act 1915, MP Lok Sewaon ke Pradan ki Guarantee Adhiniyam 2010, MP Vishesh Nyayalaya Adhiniyam 2011 and MP Govansh Vadh Pratishedh Adhiniyam 2004.

Most law questions were direct recall of a section, a time limit or a definition. For example, candidates were asked the maximum police remand under Section 167 CrPC (15 days), the time limit for RTI requests concerning life or liberty (48 hours), and the section of the SC/ST Act that bars anticipatory bail (Section 18).

Section-Wise Analysis: Part A (General Knowledge)

Part A had 50 questions, and more than half of them were specific to Madhya Pradesh. Computers and current affairs made up most of the rest.

Topics Approx. questions (out of 50) Examples of topics asked
MP geography and resources 10 Coal fields, rivers, rainfall, soil and mountain ranges
MP art, culture, tribes and history 10 Tribal crafts, folk dances, fairs and Rani Durgavati
Current affairs and sports 10 Appointments, awards and schemes from 2021 to 2022
Computers and IT 10 Cybercrime, SSL, 5G, AI and digital signatures
MP economy, polity and governance 10 Per capita income, Census 2011 and Panchayati Raj

The MP questions went well beyond basic facts, with items on specific fairs, tribal rites and local writers. Candidates who prepare only national GK will find this part hard to score in.

What Happens After the MP ADPO Exam 2026?

MPPSC will release a provisional answer key after the 1 November 2026 exam. Candidates can open an objection window, publish the final key and then declare the written result with the category-wise cut-off.

  1. Provisional answer key: In 2022, it came out within a day or two of the exam. Use it to work out your score part by part.
  2. Objections: Candidates can challenge answers they believe are wrong. In 2022, the objection window was open for about seven days.
  3. Final answer key and result: Scores are calculated on the final key. In 2022, the result came out about two and a half weeks after the exam.
  4. Interview: Candidates who clear the cut-off are called for a 50-mark interview, where documents are also verified.
  5. Final merit list: Written marks (450) and interview marks (50) are added, for a total of 500.

Candidates can check the result on the MP ADPO result 2026 after the exam is held.

How to Use the MP ADPO Exam Analysis in Your Last 10 Days

The 2022 analysis points to one clear priority for the final days: minor and special acts, because they carried most of the law marks. With the exam on 1 November 2026, this is how to turn the analysis into a revision plan. For a full plan, candidates can see the MP ADPO preparation strategy

  • The 2022 questions asked for section numbers, time limits, punishments, who appoints whom, and dates of assent or commencement. Make a one-page sheet per act with only these facts.
  • Map old sections to new ones. For BNS, BNSS and BSA, learn the new numbers of the provisions you already know from IPC, CrPC and the Evidence Act, starting with arrest, remand, bail and evidence of documents.
  • Ten questions came from them in 2022. Each Act is short, so this is one of the fastest ways to add marks.
  • Focus on MP geography, tribes, fairs, folk arts and state schemes, and keep current affairs to the last 12 to 18 months.
  • Solve the MP ADPO previous year question papers in 3 hours with +3/−1, and track your accuracy, not just your attempts.
  • After every mock, confirm you are above 60 in Part A and 120 in Part B (45 and 90 for MP-domicile reserved categories).
