National Institute of Design (NID) Bangalore was established as a combined effort with the Government of India's Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Ministry of Information Technology. NID Bangalore Admission Process 

How to get admission in National Institute of Design Bangalore? To be admitted to the National Institute of Design, Bangalore, a candidate must pass a Design Aptitude Test, which is divided into two levels: Mains and Prelims. For admission to NID Bangalore, students must meet the minimum eligibility criteria. 

The DAT examines candidates' design knowledge, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and visual awareness. Shortlisted candidates are subsequently invited to the Studio Test/Interview, when their design abilities, thought processes, and suitability for the selected programme are evaluated. 

Admission is based on exam cutoffs and marks. Students can apply for NID DAT exam in online mode. Students from various backgrounds can apply for admission to any course the college offers if they meet the basic eligibility criteria. 

Application Procedure 

  • Go to the official website to register and apply for the Institute's M.Des. programme. 
  • Provide a valid email address and phone number for further reference.  
  • Log in to your account, fill in the required information, and then click the save button. 
  • Upload the documents, photos, and signatures in the following step.  
  • All documents must be in.jpeg or.jpg format.  
  • After you've uploaded all of your documents, click save and proceed to pay the application fee.  
  • The application fee for one discipline is INR 2000 and INR 4000 for two disciplines. (For SC/ST applicants, INR 1000 for one discipline and INR 2000 for two disciplines). 
  • Payment can be paid using demand draught either online or offline.  
  • Take the printout of the application form for future reference 

A merit list of shortlisted candidates is produced based on the qualifying exam, as well as performance in the NID Bangalore entrance exam and interviews, and is posted on the official website. Selected candidates must arrive at the Institute on a specific day to secure their seats. 

NID Bangalore Eligibility Criteria 

Candidates must meet certain requirements in order to be considered for admission to National Institute of Design Bangalore.  
For the Master of Design (M.Des.) program:

  • Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. 
  • The candidate's aggregate percentage in the bachelor's degree should be at least 50%.

NID Bangalore Cutoff 

National Institute of Design Bangalore does not publish NID DAT official cutoff marks for admissions. Candidates are selected based on their performance in the Design Aptitude Test (DAT) and the Studio Test/Interview. The DAT score, along with the performance in the Studio Test/Interview, is used to make the final selection.

  1. Hostel: NID Bengaluru campus provides hostel facilities for both boys and girls.National Institute of Design Bangalore hostels are well-maintained, comfortable, and provide a conducive setting for students to focus on their academics and collaborate with fellow designers. The hostels have all of the basic amenities, such as a mess, laundry, and recreation facilities. 
  2. Lecture Halls: The institute is fully equipped with suitable lecture halls that meet all needs for design instruction. These lecture rooms are utilised for big group instruction and assist in helping students understand subjects through peer to peer interaction.  
  3. Design Room: Students are given suitable spaces with appropriate facilities for design and innovation-related activities. These classrooms enable students to work independently to develop their own designs utilising a holistic approach and all the latest technology. 
  4. Students are provided with design equipment with proper standards, and particular attention is paid to the student's entire growth.
