Mistakes to Avoid During IPMAT Preparation

Below, you will learn the 7 mistakes to avoid during IPMAT (Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test) 2023 preparation.

Not Reading Newspapers & Editorials on a Daily Basis

This is now just a requirement, but now under the new exam pattern, it has become a compulsion that you have to read newspapers and editorials daily no matter what happens, but you have to read it. Doing this daily will help enhance your IPMAT Exam Preparation levels and score well in the verbal ability section.

You can read any two newspapers daily, but I would suggest that the two newspapers should be the Indian Express and The Hindu, or if you want to read only one newspaper daily, then it should be The Hindu newspaper only. Read the main part of the newspaper and the editorial part of the newspaper.

How do we identify the best sources, and what sources should we study from?

Referring to many books is one of the high-rated mistakes mostly every student commits during the preparation for any exam.

To avoid this mistake, you have to upgrade your study material or IPMAT Preparation Books as you give one exam and then upgrade the study material for another exam. So that you will be able to prepare from different books for every management entrance exam, specially IPMAT.

Now for IMPAT as you know that there are passage-based questions, so we don’t require general knowledge. But as we have seen in the IPMAT 2022 entrance examination, there are many questions asked directly from the General Knowledge today.

So, the General Knowledge Today has become an important source for the IPMAT (Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test) entrance examination. You must study it and add it to your preparation strategy for the Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT) 2023.

Please Don’t Ignore Mathematics

Please don’t ignore mathematics because math sets the tone for the entire paper. For example, you are preparing for the IPMAT 2023, so you only have roughly 2 to 3 months.

So in that time, you can easily prepare for the Mathematics section also.

We think maths is very difficult, but it has the maximum weightage in the examination, so we must study that.

You must ensure that your fundamentals are clear and cover the basic concepts of Maths from class 11 and class 12, as it will help enhance your IPMAT Maths Preparation.

And we think that we will prepare for the other sections excellently and will leave maths. But this is not a good option if you leave maths in the examination. Hence, you are at a loss before giving the examination because you will attempt only 80 questions out of 100 questions and will leave 20 questions of short answer type maths questions, which is a disadvantage for you. Because there will be many students, you will be attempting the maths subject and will have the upper hand in the examination. So, do study maths.

There are around 18000 students who have appeared for the IPMAT 2023, out of which only 120 seats will be there for the best institute of management, so if you want to get admission to a top management institute, then you should study maths also because any loose point can lead to losing your seat in India’s top management institute. So, practice maths on a daily basis like other subjects.

They Leave too Much for the End

Most of the students think that we have difficult topics or the topics which we are unable to understand at that particular point so, we leave that for the end.

For Example, we are not comfortable practicing maths, so we keep that subject for the end; if there is any topic of logical reasoning or verbal ability that we cannot understand, then we also keep for the end.

After leaving topics for the end what happens is that we have already piled up many things for the end like we have to revise all the topics which we have studied, which is huge. So in that time we generally forget the things which we have not studied and keep them for the end.

So don't keep anything for the end else the revision only. And if we have new topics to study at the end, at the revision time, that will make you more anxious and nervous. So, don’t keep too much for the end and keep only the revision part for the end.

Just to Save Time They Don’t Make Good Notes On a Regular Basis

Generally, students don’t make notes because they think that making notes is time-consuming and unnecessary, and they also don't know how to make good notes. This is also one reason that they don’t know how to make good notes.

Allot at least 30 minutes in your IPMAT Study Plan for preparing notes for quantitative aptitude and verbal ability.

We are suggesting that you make proper notes. We are just saying that whatever you are studying just write it down somewhere so that at the time of revision it will be easy to just read that written part and recall everything other than reading the full concept again.

These notes will help you to stay calm and compose at the time of revision or you can say at the end.

Making notes will take a lot of time when you will be studying but that will be worth it at the end when you will be revising that topic and you don’t have to spend your whole day on just one topic. While making notes it will take 2 to 3 hours on one topic to complete but at the end when the revision is important it will hardly take 10 minutes to recall the topic and revise it thoroughly.

There is a suggestion, or you can say advice, for every student that starts making notes and maintains a separate notebook of each subject for the notes.

Too Late In Starting Mock Tests

This is the sixth mistake that we have noticed i.e. Generally, all the students start practicing mock tests late or practice mock tests but not as much as required for the IPMAT 2023 entrance examination.

This happens because the students who are appearing for the IPMAT entrance examination are mostly class 12th passout students, so they have been taught in school that first complete the IPMAT Exam Syllabus and then practice sample paper or mock test. But this is not applicable for this type of national level entrance examination.

For this type of national level entrance examination students have to give at least 50 to 70 mock tests till the exams happen. If you really want to crack the Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT) then you have to give a mock test along with your preparation. You cannot wait till your syllabus gets completed. You have to give the mock tests while you are preparing for the entrance examination.

See what the fight is; the fight is for attempting 100 questions in 120 minutes, so if you are practicing mock tests regularly, you will be aware of how many questions you can attempt and where you are lacking.

So, by knowing your strengths and weak points, you can improvise and enhance your preparation. If you are unable to attempt IPMAT Mock Tests or the sectional tests regularly, then you can’t improve your speed and accuracy to attempt the examination.

Not Having a Proper Plan of Preparation

When you wake up in the morning, you should have a proper date plan of preparation ready.

Some students will be of class 12th, some will be dropouts, etc but all the students should have a proper plan of preparation and should follow that plan with full dedication and sincerity.

If you have made a plan and in that plan you have mentioned that you have to study 7 to 8 hours daily and study these topics and you are following, implementing it fully then I can promise you somebody can stop you to crack the Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT) 2023.

Don’t take stress at all. Don’t think like you are preparing for the exam. Just enjoy it and prepare for it with full honesty and enthusiasm. Don’t think too much about the result.

Frequently Asked Questions

Reading newspaper and magazines on a regular basis will help improve your vocabulary and reading skills.
