The JIPMAT 2021 question paper is worth studying because it was the first JIPMAT conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

One important feature of the exam was the absence of sectional time limits. Students had 150 minutes to complete the paper and could decide how much time to spend on each section.

1. Quantitative Aptitude: 33 Questions

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

Good Attempt: Around 25+ questions with good accuracy

The Quantitative Aptitude section of the JIPMAT 2021 question paper was largely Arithmetic-based.

The JIPMAT important topics include: Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Percentages, Profit and Loss, along with some Algebra and Number Systems, featured prominently.

The paper did not rely heavily on advanced mathematics, which made the section relatively approachable for students without a strong background in mathematics.

The DILR section was slightly different from the way many students expect management entrance exams to structure Data Interpretation.

Instead of having DI as a completely separate section, JIPMAT combined Data Interpretation with Logical Reasoning. The section included DI sets along with topics such as:

The questions themselves were generally manageable. The bigger challenge was time.

DI sets can take considerably longer than individual reasoning questions, so students needed to recognise when to continue with a set and when to move on.

Practising individual reasoning questions is not enough.

Make sure you also practise complete DI-Reasoning sets with a time limit. The goal isn't simply to solve every set. It's to identify the questions that offer the best return for your time.

3. Verbal Ability: 34 Questions

Good Attempt: Around 28–30 questions

Verbal Ability was generally considered the easiest section of JIPMAT 2021.

The section placed considerable emphasis on Grammar, Vocabulary, Idioms and Phrases, along with Reading Comprehension and questions involving sentence correction, synonyms and antonyms.

Around 10 questions focused on Reading Comprehension, while the remaining questions tested various aspects of vocabulary and English usage.

What should students learn from JIPMAT 2021 Verbal Ability?

This is the section where strong preparation can translate into a high number of accurate attempts.

Don't rush through Verbal Ability simply because it feels easier. Instead, use it strategically. Strong accuracy here can help compensate if you encounter a difficult Quant or DILR set.

JIPMAT 2021 Good Attempts

Based on the analysis of the paper, an overall attempt of around 80+ questions with strong accuracy was considered a good benchmark.

However, attempt count alone doesn't tell the whole story.

Because JIPMAT followed a +4/-1 marking scheme, attempting more questions at the cost of accuracy could actually hurt your score.

A student who attempted 90 questions with several incorrect answers was not necessarily in a better position than someone who attempted 80–85 questions more carefully.

The better strategy is to think in terms of quality attempts.

The JIPMAT 2021 paper was generally rated Easy to Moderate. Because the paper was relatively approachable, a high number of correct attempts became important for candidates competing for admission.

For General category candidates, an estimated 320+ out of 400 was considered a safe score benchmark in the analysis.

However, this should not be treated as an official guaranteed cut-off.
