General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC) was formed in pursuance of Section 9(1) of GIBNA. It was incorporated on 22 November 1972 under the Companies Act, 1956 as a private company limited by shares. GIC was formed for the purpose of superintending, controlling and carrying on the business of general insurance. It is headquartered in Mumbai.

After a process of mergers among Indian insurance companies, four companies were left as fully owned subsidiary companies of GIC:

  • National Insurance Company Limited
  • The New India Assurance Company Limited
  • The Oriental Insurance Company Limited
  • United India Insurance Company Limited

GIC Assistant Manager Scale-1 Remuneration:

The basic pay for an Officer of Scale-1 Assistant Manager in GIC is Rs. 32,795/- in the scale of Rs. 32795-1610(14)-55335-1745(4)-62315 and other admissible allowance as applicable. Total gross salary will be approximately Rs. 49,500/- per month.

GIC Recruitment 2017 Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualifications

You must be a graduate in Engineering, Medical, Finance, IT, Law, CS from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by Central Government.

Age Limit & Relaxation (as on 27.03.2017)

The Minimum age should be 21 years and the Maximum age should be 30 years.
Relaxation in upper age limit as per the government guidelines.

Exam Pattern & Selection Procedure

The selection process consists of two stages – Written Examination and GD/Interview. Written test exam centres are Mumbai/Navi Mumbai/Thane, New Delhi – NCR, Kolkata/Greater Kolkata and Chennai. Those who will qualify the online written exam will be called for GD/Interview. The details of exam pattern is shown below for different posts.

Stage 2 – GD & Interview

The candidates will be shortlisted for Group Discussion and interview on the basis of overall marks scored in Part A , B and C of the written examination out of total 150 marks. The minimum qualifying marks for Group Discussion & Interview is  60% marks separately.

Important Notes:

  • Minimum qualifying marks for online written examination is 60% for GEN & OBC, and 50% for SC/ST.
  • Minimum qualifying marks for overall selection process (online written exam + GD + Interview) is 60% for GEN & OBC, and 50% for SC/ST.
  • There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
  • Tests will be bilingual i.e. English and Hindi except test of English Language.

  3. Click on 'New Registration' and note down Registration number and Password.
