LSAT Eligibility Criteria 2022

Law School Admission Council (LSAC) is an exam conducting authority that conducts (Law School Admission Test) LSAT- India. This entrance exam is required for admission to more than 52 associate or participating Law colleges. They will be using LSAT India scores for admitting candidates offering access to various courses like:

  • Five-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), B.B.A. LL.B.(Hons.), 
  • Three-year LL.B. Three Year BA (Hons.)(Legal Studies) 
  • One-year LL.M. programs and students will be selected based on their performance in LSAT India.
  • The exam will be conducted in two phases; phase one and phase two
  • The mode of the examination will be the remote-proctored mode(candidates can take the exam from their home or any place of their choice using a web camera-enabled computer and a good internet connection)
  • The test will be multiple-choice and covers logical reasoning, analytical reasoning, and reading comprehension. 
  • Medium will be English language only.

 Law School Admission Test (LSAT) Eligibility Criteria

While LSAC is in charge of the LSAT India entrance exam, it does not state any eligibility requirements for the exam because their responsibility is confined to the administration of the exam, the reporting of results, and the sharing of exam scores with participating institutes. The LSAT India participating institutes will publish institute-specific admission eligibility criteria such as cutoff marks that must be met before the candidate is considered for admission. It should be noted that the eligibility standards for the 3-year LLB, 5-year integrated, and programs differ. 

The following are the general eligibility requirements for various law programs:

LSAT India Eligibility: Five-year integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), B.B.A. LL.B.(Hons.)

  • Minimum Qualification: The candidate must have qualified 12th board examination of 10+2 education system of CBSE or any other equivalent education board
  • Qualifying marks: The candidate must have secured at least 45% to 50% marks in aggregate in their 12th board examination in any stream.
  • Students from the SC/ST/PWD background are offered 5% relaxation.
  • Age limit: No upper age limit is prescribed 
  • Applicants must be citizens of India.

LSAT India Eligibility: Three-year LL.B. Three-year BA (Hons.)(Legal Studies) 

  • Minimum Qualification: The candidate must hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Qualifying marks: The candidate must have received a minimum of 45% to 50% or an equivalent CGPA score in the qualifying exam.
  • Students from the SC/ST/PWD background are offered 5% relaxation.
  • Candidates in their final year are also allowed to apply for the course, although their acceptance will be based on their final results.
  • Age limit: No upper age limit is prescribed for admission to the LLB program.
  • Applicants must be citizens of India.

LSAT India Eligibility: One-year LLB program

  • Minimum Qualification: The candidate must have completed a 3-year or 5-year LLB program.
  • Qualifying marks: In the qualifying exam, the candidate must have received a minimum of 55 percent in the aggregate.
  • Students from the SC/ST/PWD background are offered 5% relaxation.
  • Age limit: Minimum of 17 years of age is prescribed for admission to the LLM program.
  • Applicants must be citizens of India.

Top Law Colleges Accepting LSAT Eligibility Criteria

  • Jindal Global Law School

Candidates seeking admission to Jindal Global Law School's integrated courses (BA LLB/BBA LLB), Undergraduate Courses (LLB/BA (Hons)), and Postgraduate Courses (LLM) are required to qualify if the Law School Admission Test (LSAT). Final acceptance will be based on the marks achieved in the LSAT exam.

For BA (Hons), The candidate must have qualified the 12th board examination of the 10+2 education system of CBSE in any stream or any other equivalent education board with a minimum of 45% aggregate. Final admission will be made based on the marks scored in the 10+2 examination.

  • School of Law UPES Dehradun

Candidates seeking admission to the school of use super integrated courses (BA LLB/BBA LLB), Undergraduate Courses (LLB/BA (Hons)), and Postgraduate Courses (LLM) are required to qualify if the Law School Admission Test (LSAT). Then, that participate and prepare in the Group Discussion and a Personal Interview.

  • Presidency University Bangalore

Candidates seeking admission to Presidency University Bangalore integrated courses (BA LLB/BBA LLB), Undergraduate Courses (LLB/BA (Hons)), and Postgraduate Courses (LLM) are required to qualify if the Law School Admission Test (LSAT). Final acceptance will be based on the marks achieved in the LSAT exam.

For BA (Hons), The candidate must have qualified the 12th board examination of the 10+2 education system of CBSE in any stream or any other equivalent education board with a minimum of 45% aggregate. Final admission will be made based on the marks scored in the 10+2 examination.

  • IFIM Bangalore

IFIM Bangalore offers undergraduate (BBA LLB, LLB) courses, and candidates are required to qualify if the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) followed by an interview. Final acceptance will be based on the marks achieved in the LSAT exam.

Frequently Asked Questions

Logical reasoning is considered to be the easiest. The reasons being:

  • Two sections, 70 mins, to attempt questions from logical reasoning.
  • If you cannot interpret one question correctly, it will affect the answer to one question only. In other sections, if you interpret one incorrectly you can miss 4 - 9 marks.
  • It is comparatively easier than the other two subjects.
Yes, candidates have scored 480 bands in the LSAT exam in the past years. But it is a rare case. Out of 144,000 approx. candidates participating in the LSAT exam each year, only 0.1% of students have chances to score 480 band points. And less than 0.01% of students actually score the highest possible band points, i.e., 480.

For admission to the 5-year integrated law programme, the candidate must have passed the 10+2 exam with 45% TO 50% aggregate marks.
