National
Cabinet approves setting up of National Recruitment Agency
• The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the proposal to set up a National Recruitment Agency (NRA).
• NRA will be the nodal agency to conduct the Common Eligibility Test (CET) for jobs in the government and state-owned banks. NRA will comprise of representatives of Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Finance/Department of Financial Services, the SSC, RRB as well as IBPS.
• NRA is expected to be a specialist body which will offer the state-of-the-art technology and best practices to the field of Central Government recruitment. A sum of Rs. 1517.57 crore has been sanctioned by the Government of India for the National Recruitment Agency (NRA).
• The NRA will hold online exams every year for non-gazetted government posts and each district will have at least one exam centre. The score in these exams would be valid for three years and the candidate would have the option of taking the exam again to improve the score. The best of the three scores would be used during the selection process.

Fino Payments Bank launches Jan BachatKhata
• Fino Payments Bank has launched Jan BachatKhata (JBK), which is an Aadhaar Authentication based digital savings account that brings neo-banking experience to consumers.
• Under the JBK, customers can transact at a Fino branch or merchant point with fingerprint and OTP combination, while at non-Fino points they need Aadhaar authentication.
• Earlier, Fino Payments Bank had introduced Shubh and Bhavishya, subscription-based savings accounts targeted at specific customer segments.
• Neo bank means– A bank without any branches. A bank that is entirely online rather than being physical. Neo banking provides complete digital banking experience through mobile applications.

Reliance Retail acquires majority stake in online pharmacy Netmeds for Rs 620 crore
• Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL), the subsidiary company of Mukesh Ambani owned Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has acquired a majority equity stake in online pharmacy Vitalic Health Pvt Ltd and its subsidiaries (commonly known as Netmeds) for a cash consideration of around Rs 620 crore ($83.08 million).
• The announcement regarding this was made by the Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). Reliance Retail Director Isha Ambani stated that the deal is in line with the commitment to provide digital access to all in the country.
• Chennai-based Netmeds is a licensed e-pharma portal, incorporated in 2015, that offers authenticated prescription and over the counter (OTC) medicine along with other health products in India.

Computer Scientist Russell A. Kirsch, who Invented Pixel, passes away
• Computer scientist Russell A. Kirsch, the inventor of the pixel, and developer of the first digital photograph. has passed away. He was 91 years old.
• His pioneering contributions to computer science made digital imaging possible.
• He created a small, 2-by-2-inch black-and-white digital image of his son, which was among the first images ever scanned into a computer. Pixels are the digital dots that are used to display photos, video and more on phone as well as computer screens.

England World Cup winner Laura Marsh retires
• England World Cup winner all-rounder, Laura Marsh has announced her retirement from all forms of cricket. She was a key member of the England Women’s team that won the 2017 World Cup.
• Marsh had played in 103 one-day internationals, 67 T20 and 9 Test matches during her career.

• Sports eyewear brand “Oakley” has appointed Indian cricketer, Rohit Sharma as its brand ambassador for a period of two years in India.

केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने सरकारी नौकरियों के लिये राष्ट्रीय भर्ती एजेंसी के गठन को मंजूरी दी
• केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने सरकारी नौकरियों के लिये साझा पात्रता परीक्षा आयोजित करने के वास्ते राष्ट्रीय भर्ती एजेंसी के गठन के प्रस्ताव को बुधवार को मंजूरी दे दी।केंद्रीय मंत्री प्रकाश जावड़ेकर ने यह जानकारी दी। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में हुई केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल की बैठक में यह निर्णय किया गया। बैठक के बाद सूचना एवं प्रसारण मंत्री जावड़ेकर ने संवाददाताओं को बताया ‘‘युवाओं को फिलहाल नौकरी के लिये कई अलग अलग परीक्षाएं देनी पड़ती हैं।
• ऐसी परीक्षाओं के लिये अभी लगभग 20 भर्ती एजेंसियां हैं और परीक्षा देने के लिए अभ्यर्थियों को दूसरे स्थानों पर भी जाना पड़ता है।’’ उन्होंने कहा कि इस संबंध में परेशानियां दूर करने की मांग काफी समय से की जा रही थी। इसे देखते हुए मंत्रिमंडल ने साझा पात्रता परीक्षा लेने के लिये ‘राष्ट्रीय भर्ती एजेंसी’ के गठन का निर्णय किया है। जावड़ेकर ने कहा कि इससे अभ्यर्थियों को नौकरियों के लिए एक साझा परीक्षा देने की सहूलियत मिलेगी और उनका समय और पैसा बचेगा।
• केंद्रीय मंत्री जितेन्द्र सिंह ने इस निर्णय को ऐतिहासिक बताया और कहा कि प्रारंभ में तीन एजेंसियों की परीक्षाएं राष्ट्रीय भर्ती एजेंसी के दायरे में आयेंगी लेकिन बाद में अन्य एजेंसियों को भी इसके दायरे में लाया जायेगा। उन्होंने कहा कि इससे ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों के अभ्यर्थियों, महिलाओं, दिव्यांगों को विभिन्न नौकरियों के लिये परीक्षा देने के लिए लम्बी दूरी तय करने की परेशानी से मुक्ति मिलेगी। एक अधिकारी ने बताया कि शुरू में इसके दायरे में रेलवे भर्ती परीक्षा, बैंकों की भ*र्ती परीक्षा और कर्मचारी चयन आयोग (एसएससी) आयेंगे। उन्होंने बताया कि इस परीक्षा में हासिल अंक तीन साल तक मान्य होंगे। परीक्षा आयोजित करने के लिये हर जिले में कम से कम एक परीक्षा केंद्र स्थापित किया जायेगा। राष्ट्रीय भर्ती एजेंसी (एनआरए) ग्रुप बी और ग्रुप सी (गैर तकनीकी) पदों के लिये साझा पात्रता परीक्षा के जरिये उम्मीदवारों की छंटनी (स्क्रिनिंग) करेगी। एनआरए एक सोसाइटी होगी जिसके एक अध्यक्ष होंगे और सरकार में सचिव स्तर के होंगे।
• रेलवे भर्ती बोर्ड, कर्मचारी चयन आयोग और इंस्टीट्यूट आफ बैकिंग पर्सनल सेलेक्शन (आईबीपीएस) के प्रतिनिधि इसके संचालक मंडल में शामिल होंगे। आधिकारिक बयान के अनुसार, एनआरए अत्याधुनिक प्रौद्योगिकी से युक्त एक विशेषज्ञ निकाय होगा। बहरहाल, सिंह ने बताया कि आने वाले समय में इस परीक्षा में शामिल होने वाले अभ्यार्थियों को प्रदान सीईटी स्कोर को केंद्र सरकार, राज्य सरकार, केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों, सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के उद्यम, निजी क्षेत्र की अन्य भर्ती एजेंसियों के साथ साझा किया जा सकता है। उन्होंने कहा कि इससे लागत कम करने के साथ भर्ती में लगने वाले समय को भी बचाया जा सकता है।
• सरकार ने राष्ट्रीय भर्ती एजेंसी के गठन के लिये 1,517.57 करोड़ रूपये मंजूर किये हैं और इसका मुख्यालय दिल्ली में होगा। एनआरए स्थापित करने के अलावा देश के 117 आकांक्षी जिलों में परीक्षा केंद्र भी स्थापित किए जाएंगे। केंद्रीय मंत्री जितेन्द्र सिंह ने कहा कि प्रारंभिक योजना देशभर में 1000 परीक्षा केंद्र स्थापित करने की है।

फिनो पेमेंट्स बैंक ने डिजिटल बचत खाता "Jan BachatKhata" किया लॉन्च
• फिनो पेमेंट्स बैंक द्वारा आधार प्रमाणीकरण आधारित डिजिटल बचत खाता "जन बचतखाता (Jan BachatKhata)" लॉन्च गया किया है, जो उपभोक्ताओं को neo-banking अनुभव प्रदान करेगा।
• JBK के अंतर्गत, ग्राहक किसी भी फिनो शाखा अथवा मर्चेंट पॉइंट पर फिंगरप्रिंट और OTP के जरिए लेनदेन करने में सक्षम होंगे, जबकि गैर-फिनो केन्द्रों पर उन्हें आधार प्रमाणीकरण की आवश्यकता होती है। इससे पहले, फिनो पेमेंट्स बैंक ने विशिष्ट ग्राहक बेस को लक्षित करने के लिए शुभ और भविष्य बचत खातों का शुभारंभ किया था।

• रिलायंस इंडस्ट्रीज लिमिटेड ने मंगलवार को घोषणा की कि उसकी सब्सिडियरी रिलायंस रिटेल वेंचर्स लिमिटेड ने ऑनलाइन फार्मेसी नेटमेड्स में 620 करोड़ रुपये में बहुमत हिस्सेदारी हासिल कर ली है।
• स्टॉक एक्सचेंजों के साथ एक फाइलिंग में, तेल से telecoms समूह ने कहा कि इसका निवेश विटालिक हेल्थ प्राइवेट लिमिटेड की इक्विटी शेयर पूंजी में 60% होल्डिंग और ट्रेसारा हेल्थ प्राइवेट लिमिटेड, नेटमेड्स मार्केट प्लेस लिमिटेड और दाधा फार्मा डिस्ट्रीब्यूशन प्राइवेट लिमिटेड सहित अपनी सहायक कंपनियों के 100% प्रत्यक्ष इक्विटी स्वामित्व का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है।

कंप्यूटर वैज्ञानिक रसेल किर्श का निधन
• "pixel" का आविष्कार करने वाले और दुनिया की पहली डिजिटल तस्वीर को स्कैन करने वाले कंप्यूटर वैज्ञानिक रसेल किर्श (Russell Kirsch) का निधन हो गया। उन्होंने अपने बेटे की एक 2X2 इंच की छोटी ब्लैक-वाइट डिजिटल इमेज बनाई थी, जो कंप्यूटर में स्कैन की गई पहली तस्वीर थी। पिक्सेल डिजिटल डॉट्स होते हैं जिनका उपयोग फोटो, वीडियो और फोन पर और साथ ही साथ कंप्यूटर स्क्रीन को प्रदर्शित करने के लिए किया जाता है।
• इसके अलावा रसेल किर्श ने स्क्वायर तस्वीर के बजाय विभिन्न आकृतियों के साथ पिक्सेल की मदद से छवियों को साफ करने की एक तकनीक भी विकसित की थी। साथ ही, उन्होंने दुनिया का पहला प्रोग्रामेबल कंप्यूटर, SEAC (Standards Eastern Automatic Computer) भी विकसित किया था।

• इंग्लैंड विश्व कप विजेता ऑलराउंडर लौरा मार्श ने क्रिकेट के सभी फोर्मट्स से संन्यास लेने की घोषणा की है। वह साल 2017 में विश्व कप जीतने वाली इंग्लैंड महिला टीम की प्रमुख सदस्य थी।

• भारतीय अक्षय ऊर्जा दिवस या अक्षय ऊर्जा दिवस हर साल 20 अगस्त को मनाया जाता है। भारतीय अक्षय ऊर्जा को भारत में अक्षय ऊर्जा संसाधनों के महत्व को चिह्नित करने के लिए मनाया जाता है।
• यह दिन भारत के पूर्व प्रधान मंत्री राजीव गांधी की जयंती के दिन मनाया जाता है।
विश्व मच्छर दिवस 2020
• विश्व मच्छर दिवस प्रतिवर्ष 20 अगस्त को मनाया जाता है ताकि मलेरिया के कारणों के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाई जा सके और इसे कैसे रोका जा सकता है।
• यह दिन 1897 में ब्रिटिश डॉक्टर सर रोनाल्ड रॉस द्वारा की गई खोज को भी याद करता है कि मादा मच्छर मनुष्यों के बीच मलेरिया का संचार करती है।
सदभावना दिवस
• हर साल 20 अगस्त को राजीव गांधी की जयंती सदभावना दिवस या सद्भाव दिवस के रूप में मनाई जाती है। इस वर्ष 20 अगस्त 2020 को हम पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री राजीव गांधी की 76 वीं जयंती मनाने जा रहे हैं।
• भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस ने उनकी मृत्यु के एक साल बाद, 1992 में राजीव गांधी सद्भावना पुरस्कार की स्थापना की।
विश्व फोटोग्राफी दिवस
• फोटोग्राफी को एक शौक के रूप में बढ़ावा देने के लिए हर साल 19 अगस्त को विश्व फोटोग्राफी दिवस मनाया जाता है और दुनिया भर के फोटोग्राफर्स को बाकी दुनिया के साथ एक फोटो साझा करने के लिए भी प्रेरित करता है।
• पहला आधिकारिक विश्व फोटो दिवस 19 अगस्त 2010 को मनाया गया था।
• विश्व फोटो दिवस की उत्पत्ति 1837 में फ्रांस के लुई डागुएरे और जोसेफ नाइसोर निपसे द्वारा विकसित की गई एक फोटोग्राफिक प्रक्रिया डागुआरोटाइप के आविष्कार से हुई है।
