Overview: From mock score dips to AIR 24 in IPMAT Indore 2025, Tanish's journey reveals the power of planning and consistency. Read his story.
Success isn't just about reaching the top-it's about staying authentic while you climb.
In this Topper Talk, we bring you the inspiring journey of Tanish Khetan, who secured an All India Rank of 24 in IPMAT 2025.
His story is one of clarity, consistency, and calmness-and it's packed with takeaways for every IPMAT aspirant.
Joining him in the conversation is his father, Mr. Rajesh Khetan, whose support played a key role in this journey.
This interview is primarily for students preparing for IPMAT 2026 and 2027, helping them understand the practical side of preparation.
Tanish: "Sir, my father initially introduced me to the IPM program. One of my cousins was also preparing for it. When I took commerce, my father suggested the program. Once I looked at the curriculum and the colleges, especially IIM Ranchi, I thought-yes, this is something I can do for sure."
Tanish: "If you are being consistent, you won't reach an extreme low or high. For me, the graph was plain. But if I had to pick one, it would be right after my board exams. My focus shifted more to boards, and my mock scores dropped by 20-30 marks. That was tough, but I bounced back with disciplined and consistent weekly IPMAT mocks."
Tanish: "For me, the recipe was priorities. IPM was always first, boards second, and school exams third. Even before boards, my focus remained on IPM. During the boards, I still did some IPM practice. You can't study both boards and IPM every day for a year. You need to allocate time blocks."
Tanish: "No, not really. Again, because of consistency. If you are giving consistent efforts, why will you take stress? I had a plan and I was accomplishing it. That removed any unnecessary pressure."
Tanish: "First, set your priorities. Do you really want to do IPM? I've seen many students do it just because their parents want them to. I did my own research. Once you're clear, make a proper day-by-day IPMAT study plan. That's what I did."
Tanish: "The orientation session by Anil Sable sir. Every class by him gave me a different kind of confidence and motivation. I also want to thank Sana Jaffrey ma'am and Binda ma'am for English-it was my weak area. They really helped. Also, Musa sir during the IPMAT interview prep-always quick with replies!"
Tanish: "Initially, I was a bit annoyed. They gave us an HR assessment sheet but didn't give sample answers. But now I realise it was for the best. My answers came out very authentic in the final interview. I'm really proud of them. I gave a lot of mock interviews and they really helped."
Tanish: "I was using my phone when I got a call from Supergrads saying the result is out. My hands were shaking as I typed in my ID and password. I checked 3-4 times before I believed it. Only then did I message anyone."
Tanish: "First, make sure you want to do IPM. Look at the IPMAT curriculum, placements, and alumni. Once you're sure, make a plan and stick to it. If you follow a plan, you'll never feel stressed. That's my biggest advice."
