For candidates seeking admission under reserved categories, strict rules apply for NID seats. Once a category is selected during application submission, it cannot be changed. Required documents must be submitted promptly, as provisional admissions are not granted without them.

  • Photocopy of the NID DAT 2026 Application Form
  • Original and sufficient photocopies of class 10th and 12th passing certificates and mark sheets for B.Des and GDPD courses.  
  • Original and sufficient photocopies of bachelor degree passing certificates and mark sheets for M.Des along with Class 10th and 12th passing certificate and mark sheet. 
  • Reservation certificates (if reservation is applicable) 
  • Sufficient number of passport size photographs

NID Counselling Process 2026

The NID counselling process is the final step for admission after the NID DAT exam. Here’s everything you need to know for B.Des admissions 2026–27 (based on the official NID handbook).

1. Merit List & Eligibility

  • DAT Prelims → shortlisting only.
  • DAT Mains → final merit list prepared category-wise (General, OBC-NCL, GEN-EWS, SC, ST, PwD, Overseas).
  • Only candidates in the final merit list are eligible for counselling.

2. Campus Preference

  • During application, you choose campus preferences.
  • After results, you can confirm or change your preference once.
  • Seat allotment depends on your rank + category + campus preference + seat availability.

3. Seat Allotment

  • Conducted online or offline (NID will notify mode).
  • Round-wise allotment is done until seats are filled.
  • If you skip counselling/seat allotment, your candidature may be cancelled.

4. Seat Confirmation

To confirm a seat, you must:

  • Upload/produce original documents (mark sheets, ID, category/PwD certificates, passport for overseas, etc.).
  • Pay the non-refundable confirmation fee.
  • Without these, your seat will be forfeited.

5. Reservation & De-reservation

  • GEN-EWS, SC, ST, Overseas seats: not de-reserved if vacant.
  • OBC-NCL vacant seats may be transferred to General category.
  • PwD seats (if vacant) are de-reserved within the same category.

6. Provisional Admission

  • If Class XII or final-year graduation results are pending, you may be admitted provisionally.
  • You must submit final marksheet by the deadline, or your admission will be cancelled.

7. Documents Required

  • Class 10 & 12 mark sheets (or bachelor’s for M.Des).
  • Valid photo ID (Aadhar/Passport/Driving License).
  • Caste/Category certificate (as per latest govt. format).
  • PwD certificate (if applicable).
  • Passport/OCI/PIO (for overseas category).

8. Important Tips

  • Fill campus preferences carefully; final submission cannot be changed later.
  • Keep all certificates updated - outdated category certificates are not accepted.
  • Pay seat acceptance fee within deadline.
  • Regularly check admissions.nid.edu for official counselling notices.
