The Indian Law Institute (ILI), a well renowned law institute located at New Delhi was established in 1956. ILI offers 1 year LLM program, Ph.D in Law and several other Post Graduate Diploma Programs. ILI is an autonomous body that has attained the status of a deemed to be university. It is recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI), University Grants Commission (UGC) and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
 
The national level LLM entrance test for admission into LLM at ILI is commonly known as Indian Law Institute Common Admission Test (ILICAT). This article talks about ILI LLM Eligibility Criteria, Relaxation in eligibility for LLM in ILI for SC/ST/OBC, PwD and Kashmir migrant students, Tentative Timeline of ILI LLM 2022 etc.
 
The official notification for ILI LLM 2022 has not yet been released. Candidates applying for ILI LLM for admission into ILI’s LLM Program must apply only through online mode. Once the official notification is released by ILI, the application will be made available online at www.ili.ac.in

ILI LLM Eligibility Criteria 2022

Eligibility for LLM in ILI includes the following parameters. Any candidate seeking to appear for ILI LLM must:

  • Have Indian Nationality.
  • Completed LL.B. Degree from any University/Institute recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI) having secured not less than 50% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • Be pursuing Final Year of LL.B Degree from any University/Institute recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI) and about to appear/appearing for the qualifying examination.
  • Candidates appearing in qualifying examination are required to submit proof of having acquired minimum prescribed qualification for that examination.

ILI LLM Eligibility Criteria for Foreign University Graduates 2022

Any candidate applying from a LL.B degree issued by a foreign university must keep in mind the following eligibility criteria for admission into LLM at ILI:

  • Must be of Indian Nationality.
  • Should have secured a Law Degree from a Foreign University with at least 50% aggregate marks or equivalent grade. This is based on the guidelines issued by the Association of Indian University (AIU) from time to time.
  • Be pursuing Final Year of LL.B Degree from any Foreign University/Institute and about to appear/appearing for the qualifying examination. 
  • Candidates appearing in such qualifying examination are required to submit proof of having acquired minimum prescribed qualification for that examination. 
  • There is no upper age limit imposed on any of the candidates applying for ILI LLM .
  •  ILI LLM accepts applications from candidates of all ages meeting the eligibility criteria.

ILI LLM Eligibility Criteria 2022– Relaxations

ILI offers relaxation in eligibility for LLM in ILI for candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC Category, Persons with Disabilities (PwD) Category and Kashmiri Migrant Students Category. The relaxation is related to reduction in percentage secured by the candidate in the qualifying examination from the stipulated 50% for all other candidates.

  • Eligibility Relaxation for SC/ST/OBC Candidates

Relaxation of 5% of the marks prescribed in the minimum eligibility criteria for LLM as declared by ILI. The relaxation is only applicable to candidates of SC/ST/OBC that fall under the Non-Creamy Layer category.
 

  • Eligibility Relaxation for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) Candidates

For Persons with Disabilities the relaxation in the minimum eligibility criteria of ILI LLM is fixed at 5%, the same as the relaxation for candidates of SC/ST/OBC.
 

  • Eligibility Relaxation for Kashmiri Migrant Students

A relaxation of 10% in the minimum eligibility for LLM in ILI is awarded to Kashmiri Migrant Students/Wards of Kashmiri Migrants as per the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
