The Indian Law Institute (ILI) was founded in 1956 primarily to promote and conduct legal research.

The program to be conducted by the Indian Law Institute is with the objective of Testing Aptitude for Research, Legal Reasoning and Comprehension, and basic knowledge in different branches of law.

ILI LLM Exam Pattern & Paper Format 2022:

According to the paper pattern of the ILI LLM Entrance Exam, the question paper is divided into four parts:

• Part I - 40 objective-type questions based on English and General Knowledge 

• Part II - 100 objective-type questions based on legal aptitude

• Part III - 4 subjective type questions based on legal aspects

• Part IV- Viva Voce

ILI LLM  2022 Part I: 

• 40 multiple choice objective type questions will be asked from:
  • English language 
  • General knowledge
• Each question shall carry one mark, and there will be negative marking for incorrect answers. 
• One by fourth (1/4) mark will be deducted for each wrong answer (as per the syllabus mentioned above).

ILI LLM  2022 Part II: 

• 100 MCQs will be asked from the following areas: 
  • Jurisprudence
  • Constitutional Law
  • IPC
  • Public International Law
  • Commercial Law (Contract and Specific Relief Act
  • Partnership and Sale of Goods Act)
  • Law of Torts
  • Law of Limitation
  • Environmental Law
• Each question shall carry one mark, and there will be negative marking for incorrect answers.
• One by fourth (1/4) mark will be deducted for each wrong answer (as per the syllabus mentioned above).

ILI LLM  2022 Part III: 

• This will be a subjective type section were four questions are to be answered in not more than 150 words to test the legal writing skills of the candidate. 
• There will be four questions in Part III, and each question shall carry ten marks. 
• Subjective-type questions shall be to test the legal writing skills of the candidate.

ILI LLM  2022 Part IV: 

• Short-listed candidates shall be called for viva-voce online/offline mode after declaring the All India Admission Test result.
• Note: The date & Timing of viva-voce will be notified in advance.

• For every correct answer +1, 0.25 will be deducted for every wrong answer.

• After clearing the exam, the shortlisted candidate will be called for Viva-Voice, that is of 20 marks.

ILI LLM Tie-Breaking Rules :

Here are the clauses for Tie-breaking during admission to decide merit among candidates having the same overall marks in ILI LLM Program:

• (i) In case of securing more marks in the Legal writing skill and Viva-voce put together is to be ranked higher;
• (ii) If (i) above is the same, then the marks in Legal Writing Skill are to be ranked higher.
