The Chhattisgarh Judiciary syllabus 2026 focuses on the practical legal knowledge needed for the Civil Judge post.
- Prelims covers the updated criminal laws (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam), along with CPC, the Constitution, Transfer of Property Act, Contract Act, Limitation Act and key state laws such as the Chhattisgarh Land Revenue Code, Rent Control Act and Excise Act.
- Mains tests application through framing of issues and judgment writing in civil cases, framing of charges and judgment writing in criminal cases also the translation between English and Hindi.
Recently, as per the official amendment, the revised Chhattisgarh Judiciary Exam Pattern (with 400-mark Mains across four descriptive papers and 25-mark Viva-Voce) was notified on 11 September 2026. The Law and Legislative Affairs Department of Chhattisgarh amended the Chhattisgarh Lower Judicial Service (Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2006 through an extraordinary Gazette notification dated 11 September 2026.
Key changes in this notification are:
- Main Examination expanded to four descriptive papers of 100 marks each (total 400 marks), each of 3 hours duration.
- Papers cover Civil Law, Criminal Law (including BNS, BNSS and BSA), Language/Social & Legal Perspective and Translation, and Judgment Writing/Pleadings.
- Viva-Voce marks raised from 15 to 25.
- Candidates shortlisted from Prelims continue to be called for Mains in the 1:10 ratio.

The Viva-Voce carries 25 marks (earlier it were 15 marks), reflecting the revised assessment pattern notified on notified on 11 September 2026. There isn't any specific syllabus for this stage of the Chhattisgarh Judiciary Exam 2026. However, the scores obtained in the interview and the mains are combined for the final result.
