Becoming a part of the NATA toppers list is more than just scoring high. It’s about understanding how your performance is evaluated and knowing how to use your score wisely.
Here’s how NATA rank list is actually prepared?
NATA doesn’t release an official All India Rank (AIR) list publicly. Instead, each student gets a score out of 200, based on their performance in:
Part A – Drawing Section
Part B – Cognitive Skills, General Aptitude, and Math
Each section is evaluated on speed, accuracy, creativity, logic, and visual reasoning. The Council of Architecture (CoA) sends your scorecard to architecture colleges, and it’s these scores that colleges use to create their own merit lists for admission.
Important: There’s no central counselling for NATA like in JEE. Colleges typically also consider scores from qualifying examinations like (10+2). The weightage of each depends on the college of admission. While most colleges have a 50-50 ratio for both while preparing the NATA merit list, others may follow a different ratio.
Which means that excellence is required in both, 12th std. exam and the NATA exam to secure an overall higher rank.
What sets apart NATA toppers from the rest isn’t just talent, it’s the strategies they followed, the habits they built, and the mindset they cultivated. Here are some of the NATA Topper preparation tips shared by Creative Edge students who aced the NATA exam and made it to India’s top architecture colleges:
Top scorers didn’t wait for inspiration to strike. They made sketching a daily ritual, capturing everything from their study table to metro stations. It trained their eyes for perspective, detail, and composition.
Tip: Consistency matters more than perfection.
Visual-spatial skills are a core NATA asset. Our NATA high scorers practiced 3D visualization using simple objects at home like boxes, books, or even Lego blocks. This helped him solve mental rotation and perspective-based questions intuitively.
Tip: Practice building mental models of things around you.
Students from the CreativEdge NATA Toppers List approached General Aptitude like a daily game. Instead of cramming, she solved puzzles, riddles, and logic-based questions for 20 minutes every day. This low-pressure habit made her faster and sharper by the time the exam arrived.
While most NATA aspirants overlook GK, students from our NATA toppers list, turned it into their scoring area. They stayed informed about the latest developments in architecture, design and construction. Plus, they made concise notes that helped them revise before the exam.
Tip: Strong GK = major edge in overall NATA score.
Mock tests aren’t just practice, they’re diagnostic tools. NATA top scorers tracked their performance after every mock, marked their weak zones, and retook questions they struggled with.
Toprankers Tip: One well-reviewed mock is better than five rushed ones.
Consistency beats motivation. CreativEdge NATA Toppers treated their prep like a job, studying at the same time daily, even when they didn’t feel like it. That structure helped them sustain momentum through ups and downs.
Sneha Patil (SPA Delhi) used her final 30 days to target only the areas she had struggled with earlier—not everything. She did timed sketching sessions, refined her speed, and asked mentors for detailed feedback.
Tip: Know what not to revise too.
We make prep sessions fun for students. Our NATA Toppers used to narrate logic puzzles aloud, and practiced drawing with different mediums (pencils, charcoal, color). This kept burnout away and creativity alive.
