Jharkhand Judiciary Question Papers includes previous prelims and mains papers of the JPSC Civil Judge (Junior Division) exam.
The latest prelims paper is from the exam held on 10 March 2024 under Advt. No. 22/2023 for 138 posts.
After the Supreme Court order on 9 February 2026, JPSC issued the final answer key on 1 June and the revised prelims result on 5 June, clearing 1,844 candidates for the mains.
The mains (four papers of 100 marks each) was first scheduled for 6 and 7 September 2026, later postponed, and the entire recruitment under this advertisement was cancelled by the state government in August 2026.
Even with the cancellation, the older mains papers continue to be the best material for practising answer writing and understanding the actual level of the written exam.
Key Points About Jharkhand Judiciary Previous Year Question Papers
The important points about Jharkhand Judiciary Question Papers and exam format are mentioned below:
Solving both prelims and mains papers side by side gives the clearest picture of topic weightage, question framing and the level of detail required at each stage.
The mains stage consists of four descriptive papers of 100 marks each and is the key phase where previous years’ answer scripts prove most useful for practice.
Although the mains under this advertisement was later postponed and the entire recruitment cancelled in August 2026, the older mains papers continue to reflect the exact style and depth expected in the written examination.
Jharkhand Judiciary Previous Year Question Papers: Overview
Jharkhand Judiciary question papers come from three stages - an objective prelims that only screens candidates, a descriptive mains of 400 marks, and a 100-mark interview. Prelims marks are not added to the final merit, so the prelims papers help you qualify while the mains papers decide your rank.
JPSC does not hold this exam every year. The 2019 cycle (Advt 12/2018) was followed by a notice only in August 2023, so each set of past papers covers a long stretch of preparation time.

Benefits of Solving Jharkhand Judiciary Previous Year Question Papers
You see where the 80 law marks sit - Once you notice that each major law carried 16 questions in 2024, you stop spending weeks on minor topics that rarely appear.
You learn JPSC's style, not a coaching style - JPSC repeats certain formats: illustration-based contract questions, long statement-type CPC questions, and judgment-based IPC questions. Mock tests from other states do not always copy this.
You get honest timing practice - 100 questions in 120 minutes leaves about 72 seconds a question. Long CPC questions eat into that, and only a real paper shows you how much.
You train for the language paper - Mains Paper IV tests Hindi and English through essay, precis, translation and paraphrase. Old Paper IV sets show the passage length and topics JPSC prefers.
You build a revision list that is actually useful - Every question you get wrong in an old paper points to a section you need to re-read.
How to Effectively Use Jharkhand Judiciary Previous Year Question Papers?
Start with the latest paper, cold - Attempt the 2024 prelims in one 2-hour sitting before you study anything new. Your score here is your baseline.
Check against the right key - Use the JPSC final answer key of 1 June 2026 for the 2024 paper. Mark every question as right, wrong, or guessed-right.
Treat guessed-right answers as wrong - These are the questions that fail you on exam day. Add them to your revision list.
Map each question to its section - Write the bare-act section next to every law question. For IPC, CrPC and Evidence questions, also write the BNS, BNSS or BSA equivalent.
Move backwards year by year - Solve 2019, then the two 2015 cycles, then 2014 and 2008. Older papers are more direct, so use them to build speed.
For mains papers, write, don't read - Pick one question per paper each day and write a full answer in the time it deserves (around 15–20 minutes for a 10-mark question). Compare it with the bare act and a standard textbook.
Re-solve after 30 days - Attempt the same paper again a month later. If the same mistakes repeat, the topic needs a fresh read, not just revision.
The next JPSC Civil Judge notification has not been released yet. Use this window to build a base that covers both prelims and mains, since the prelims only screens and the mains decides your rank.
Prelims (100 marks, objective) -
Read the bare acts of CPC, the Contract Act, BNS, BNSS and BSA line by line. Keep an IPC–BNS, CrPC–BNSS and Evidence–BSA comparison table handy, because older papers still use the old section numbers.
Give English 20–30 minutes a day: phrasal verbs, idioms, spelling and parts of speech. It is 10 easy marks if you practise.
For GK, follow national news, awards, sports and defence, plus Jharkhand-specific facts such as tribal communities and state schemes.
Attempt one full prelims paper every week in the last two months.
Mains (400 marks, descriptive) -
Paper I covers procedural and criminal law (CPC, BNSS, BNS, BSA, Limitation Act).
Paper II covers Contract, Sale of Goods, Negotiable Instruments, Arbitration and Transfer of Property.
Paper III covers Hindu Law, Muslim Law, Rent Control, Specific Relief and Jurisprudence.
Paper IV is Hindi and English: essay, precis, translation and paraphrase. Practise translation of legal passages both ways; read a diglot (bilingual) bare act to build legal vocabulary.
Interview (Viva Voce) (100 marks) -
You need at least 25% (General/EWS) or 20% (reserved categories) to qualify, regardless of your mains marks.
Prepare your own background, Jharkhand's courts and judicial structure, and recent Supreme Court and Jharkhand High Court judgments.
Confirm the final syllabus and dates in the next official JPSC advertisement before locking your plan.
Common Mistakes to Avoid While Using Jharkhand Judiciary Previous Year Question Papers
Using the wrong answer key - Many PDFs online still carry the March 2024 provisional key. The 2024 result was revised in June 2026 on the basis of a corrected key, so older keys can mislead you.
Learning old section numbers only - A 2019 answer that says "Section 302 IPC" is now Section 103 BNS. If you memorise only the old number, a question framed under BNS will trip you up.
Solving only prelims papers - The prelims does not count in the final merit. Aspirants who ignore mains papers until the result is out lose months of answer-writing practice.
Reading answers instead of attempting - Going through a solved paper feels productive but tells you nothing about your speed or accuracy.
Skipping Paper IV - Many law-strong candidates lose rank in the Hindi and English paper. Translation needs regular practice, not a last-week push.
Trusting "Jharkhand Judiciary" papers from other exams - JPSC also conducts the Assistant Public Prosecutor exam. Check the paper title says Civil Judge (Junior Division) before you rely on it.
