In Ranchi, Jharkhand High Court is responsible for releasing the syllabus for recruiting a Civil Judge (Junior Division) in Jharkhand.

Before beginning the judicial preparation, you must be thorough with the Jharkhand Civil Judge Syllabus 2022. 

The syllabus for Jharkhand Judiciary lets you know the important topics you need to study for prelims and mains examination.

The Jharkhand judiciary exam syllabus and overview demonstrate the general structure of the question paper, the marking scheme, the number of questions, etc.

  • As per the Judiciary Exam Pattern, there are three phases in the selection process: the Preliminary, Mains, and Interview Processes.

  • Only the candidates who have qualified in the prelims exam are eligible to appear for the Mains Examination.
  • Candidates qualifying in the Mains exam are eligible for the next stage of the selection process.

Jharkhand Judiciary Syllabus: Prelims Exam 2022

"Preliminary Entrance Test" means a Written Examination in which multiple choice questions/objective types are asked only.

Suppose the number of candidates is very large, and in the opinion of the Hon'ble Jharkhand High Court.

In that case, it is desirable to have a Preliminary Entrance Test to limit the candidates for the Main Examination.

The Commission shall conduct a Preliminary Entrance Test (PT). The candidates declared successful in the prelims test shall be eligible for the Main Examination.

The Main Examination and Viva Voce Test shall follow the Preliminary Entrance Test for direct recruitment to the Civil Judges, Junior Division post.

The Preliminary Entrance Test shall be 100 marks in aggregate. The marks obtained in the preliminary examination shall not be counted for final selection.

"Main Examination" means Written Examination (Subjective), and the candidates declared successful in this test shall be eligible for Viva-Voce Test.

Paper – I

The Syllabus for Paper I is composed of the following topics listed here:

  • Procedural Law (The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, and The Code of Criminal Procedure,1973).
  • The Indian Penal Code, 1860.
  • The Indian Evidence Act, 1872.
  • The Limitation Act, 1963.

Paper-II

The Syllabus for Paper II consists of the following subjects:

Jharkhand Judiciary Syllabus: Personal Test 2022

"Viva-Voce Test" means an Oral Examination. The Viva-Voce test/personality test will be 100 marks.

The minimum required qualification marks for the Viva-Voce exam will be 25% for general category candidates and 20% for reserved categories.

Know the tips to crack Judicial Services Interview and get appointed as a civil judge. 

  • No applicant, regardless of his marks in the main assessment, shall be qualified for appointment if he obtains less than the minimum specified marks in the Viva-Voce test.
  • The final selection list shall be drawn based on the marks obtained in the main assessment and the Viva-Voce test.
  • In the event of a tie of marks between the applicants in the final selection list, their selection shall be based primarily on qualification.
  • Preference shall be given to a person with a Postgraduate Degree in Law and subsequently based on experience, if any, in legal practice and, if required, based on age.

Note: The final selection list shall be prepared based on both the marks obtained in the Main Examination and the Viva-Voce Test.

Jharkhand Judiciary Exam Pattern 2022

  • The Preliminary Entrance Test is a written exam with objective or Multiple Choice type questions. 
  • The Mains Exam and the Viva Voce Test shall follow the Preliminary Entry Test for direct recruitment to the Civil Judges Junior Division post. 
  • As per the Judiciary Exam Pattern, there will be no negative marking for the wrong answers in the preliminary examination.
  • In the prelims exam, candidates will be tested on general English, current affairs, general knowledge, and different law procedures. 
  • The prelims exam is conducted for 100 marks with a total time duration of 2 hours.
  • The Jharkhand Judiciary Main Examination consists of four papers: Paper 1, paper 2, paper 3, and paper 4.
  • Each paper is conducted for 100 marks.
  • The total time duration of the exam is 3 hours.
