JEE Main Paper 2 Photo Size and Signature Details

The National Testing Agency which is conducting the Joint Entrance Exam(JEE Mains) has categorically advised following the instructions diligently for uploading the Photo and Signature in the online application.

Before proceeding with the application form, it is important to keep all required documents handy. In the official brochure, the NTA has provided the photo and signature specifications.

JEE Main Photo Specifications

A scanned image of the candidate photo must be uploaded when filling in the JEE Main registration form, ensuring everything is handy. 
Check out the guidelines below to know the JEE Photo Format specified by NTA:

  • The photograph should be passport size and include the photographer's name and the date.
  • The photograph should be colored or black and white, with a distinct background and contrast.
  • The photograph should have been captured against a light-colored, preferably white, background.
  • The image should be scanned in JPG or JPEG format only.
  • Ensure that the size of the scanned image is 10 Kb - 200 Kb 
  • Dimensions of the signature should not be more than 3.5 cm X 4.5 cm
  • The applicant should have a comfortable expression on his or her face and should be facing straight at the camera.
  • Make sure there is no "red-eye" if the photo was taken with a flash.
  • The photograph should not be old and should reflect the candidate's identity.
  • Spectacles are permitted however, they must be free of reflections and eyes should be visible clearly.
  • If the size of the picture is more then change the scanner setting and again scan and upload the picture.
  • Hats, caps, and dark glasses are not permitted; only religious headgear, which should not hide your face, is permitted.

 Note: Candidates should keep at least 10 similar photos with them, it will be required at the time of the entrance exam, Seat Allocation Process, and Admission of the candidate.

JEE Main Signature Specifications

A scanned image of the candidate signature and signature of the mother/guardian/father must be uploaded when filling in the JEE Main registration form, ensuring everything is handy.

  • The signature should be done on plain white paper with a black pen only.
  • A valid signature should be done only by the applicant and father/mother/guardian (separately), the signature will be used on the Hall Ticket and other documents as needed. 
  • The applicant will be rejected if the signature uploaded in the application form does not match the signature on the Hall Ticket at the time of the test.
  • Ensure that the size of the scanned Signature is 4 Kb - 30 Kb 
  • Dimensions of the signature should not be more than 3.5 cm X 4.5 cm

You must ensure that all essential documents are uploaded in the correct format before the time limit. Your application will be denied without further notice if you fail to upload a photo and signature in the necessary format.

Scanning the Photograph & Signature for JEE Main 2022

  • Students must take the following considerations before scanning the necessary photos and signatures for JEE Main 2022.
  • Set a minimum of 200 dpi scanner resolution.
  • Specify true color.
  • File size as previously mentioned.
  • Crop the picture to the photograph/signature edge in the scanner and then use the upload editor to edit the picture to the final size (as specified above).

Candidates using MS Windows/MS Office may simply get a photo and signature in.jpeg format that are no more than 200 KB and 30 KB, respectively, or they can use MS Paint or MS Office Picture Manager.
