5. Business Regulators and Intermediaries

(i) Regulators and Intermediaries: Meaning of the terms Regulators and Intermediaries.
(ii) Role of Regulators and Intermediaries.

• Reserve Bank of India (RBI): Indian banks, foreign banks, and Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFC).
• Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI): stock exchanges, stock brokers, merchant bankers, depositories, mutual funds and credit rating agencies.
• Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDA): insurance companies, insurance agents and insurance brokers.
• Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA): pension funds and pension aggregators.
• Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI): food processors, food packers.
• Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS): ISI mark is given to industrial goods, consumer electrical goods, and steel manufacturers.

ICSE Class 12 Business Studies Weightage

Business Studies Class 12 ISC Syllabus weightage is as follows - 

• The ICSE business Studies examination consists of 2 papers for a total of 100 marks, i.e. Paper I – Theory of 80 marks and Paper II – Project Work of 20 marks.
• Paper I is of Theory (80 marks) comprises two parts, i.e. Part 1 is of 20 marks and Part 2 is of 60 marks, and the time allotted for this paper is 3 hours.
• Paper II is of Project work consisting of 2 projects to be done. Each project consists of 10 marks. For this project work, ten marks are allotted on the basis of – Overall Format 1 mark, Content 4 marks, Findings 2 marks, and Viva-Voce based on Project 3 marks.

While both the CBSE and ICSE syllabi aim to provide students with robust knowledge about business and its various facets, their focus areas slightly differ.
