Veteran Journalist Dilip Padgaonkar passed away
Noted journalist and former Editor-in-Chief of the ‘Times of India’, Dilip Padgaonkar passed away on 25 November 2016, following a heart attack and multi-organ failure.
● He was 72.
● Padgaonkar along with Information Commissioner Prof. M M Ansari and Prof. Radha Kumar formed a three-member interlocutors team, who were chosen by the Union Government in 2010 to conduct dialogues with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
● He was born in Pune in 1944.
● His educational background includes schooling from St. Vincent’s High School, graduation from Fergusson College and finally a doctorate in humanities from the Sorbonne in France.
● Being fluent in French, he joined the Times of India as a correspondent from Paris and continued thereon to serve the company in different positions until he was appointed as the editor in 1988.
● He also worked with UNESCO in Bangkok and Paris from 1978-1986.

टाइम्स आफ इंडिया के पूर्व संपादक वरिष्ठ पत्रकार दिलीप पड़गांवकर का 25 नवंबर 2016 को पुणे में निधन हो गया. 72 वर्षीय पड़गांवकर पिछले कई सप्ताह से अस्वस्थ थे.
● पड़गांवकर जम्मू कश्मीर के तीन सदस्यीय वार्ता समूह के सदस्य भी थे.
● रूबी हाल क्लिनिक के मेडिकल सेवा विभाग के निदेशक संजय पथारे के अनुसार पड़गांवकर को 18 नवंबर को गंभीर हालत में प्रयाग अस्पताल से यहां रूबी हाल क्लिनिक लाया गया.
● दिलीप पड़गांवकर का जन्म पुणे में 1944 में हुआ.
● पड़गांवकर ने सेंट विंसेंट हाई स्कूल से अपनी शिक्षा पूरी की और बाद में फरगूसन कालेज से राजनीति शास्त्र में स्नातक की डिग्री प्राप्त की.
● पड़गांवकर ने बहुत ही कम उम्र में पत्रकारिता शुरू कर दी.
● वह 1968 में पीएचडी करने के बाद पेरिस संवाददाता के रूप में टाइम्स आफ इंडिया से जुड़ गए.
● 1988 में टाइम्स आफ इंडिया के संपादक बनने से पूर्व उन्होंने इसी दैनिक में विभिन्न पदों पर काम किया.
