Mumbai Garuda became the winner of the first Pro Wrestling League championship. They had beaten harayana to get to the first place.

- It was the richest wrestling event ever.
- Each team had 9 players – 5 Indians, 4 foreigners, 5 men, 4 women.

- K D Jadhav secured a bronze in wrestling in Helsinki Games – India’s first individual Olympic medal.
