●        A delegation led by the Minister of Food Processing Industries, Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal met Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.

Rural Sanitation Coverage Exceeds 85% Under Swachh Bharat
●        Rural sanitation coverage of India has increased to 85% under the Clean India Mission, the world's largest behavior change program.
●        Due to the active rural communities, 7.4 million toilets were constructed in rural India resulting in more than 3.8 lakh villages and 391 districts open-defeaining (ODF) in the open.

Nat Workshop on skill development in port and marine sector
●        In collaboration with the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Rural Skill Scheme (DDU-GKY) of Ministry of Rural Development in New Delhi, today, the shipping ministry organized a one-day workshop on skill development in the port and marine sector.
●        Opening the workshop, Secretary (Shipping) Mr. Gopal Krishna and Mr. Andaman & Nicobar Member of Parliament Mr. Vishnu.


India's maternal mortality rate decreased by 22 percent
 
●        India has recorded a significant decrease of record 22 percent in the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) from the year 2013 in India.
●        This information was given on the basis of the data collected by the Sample Registration System (SRS) on June 06, 2018.
●        In India, in the year 2011-13, the maternal mortality rate was 167, which was reduced to 130 in 2014-16.
●        MMR is defined as the number of maternal mortality of 100,000 live births.


Punjab Government launches 'Business First Portal'
 
●        'Business First portal' was launched by the Punjab government to simplify business in the state.
●        This portal was unveiled by the Minister of Industry, Beautiful Sham Arora.
●        This online portal will provide all facilities on one platform, making industrialists convenient for regulatory clearance and financial approval.


40% of the population of Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand consumes tobacco
 
●        Recently, the Global Adult Tobacco Survey Report was released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
●        This was the second phase of this survey which is also known as GATS-2.
●        It is reported in the second phase of the survey that 30 to 40 percent of the population of Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand consumes tobacco in various forms.


Modi government to run mega KYC campaign to tackle shell companies
 
●        The Modi government is constantly trying to circumvent Shell companies.
●        The Ministry of Corporate Affairs will soon launch a campaign to complete the KYC procedure of the company directors .
●        To complete this KYC process, at least passport , PAN number and contact details will be required.
●        Company Secretaries or Chartered Accountants will have to give all information related to this process while filing the annual financial statements.

A total of 13,993 companies benefited from delay plan 2018 
 
●        Meeting of the work force on shell companies has been done 8 times since its formation and Task Force has taken very active and coordinated steps to control the hazards of such companies.
●        This workforce was created in February 2017 by the Prime Minister's Office in the joint chair of the Secretary of the Ministry of Revenue and Corporate Affairs, and it was systematically assigned by the various agencies to control the masked companies involved in illegal activities including tax evasion. 

RBI decides to grant small financial bank status to urban co-operative banks
 

●        The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to grant the status of small financial bank on the basis of voluntary basis to the urban co-operative banks on June 06, 2018.
●        The statement issued after the second biennial meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee of the RBI was stated to have been decided to allow urban cooperative banks, who fulfill the set standards for Small Financial Banks (SFBs), to voluntarily convert to SFB.


World Bank approves 'Atal Bhujal Yojna' of 6,000 crores
 
●        The World Bank has approved the Central Sector Scheme of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Protection Ministry at a cost of 6000 crores.
●        The scheme is to be implemented in the five year period of 2018-10 to 2022-23 with the help of World Bank.


FDI in India: 3% increase in 2017-18
 
●        In India, FDI increased by 3% in 2017-18 to $ 61.96 billion.
●        This increase has been achieved by the government in improving the business environment and liberalizing FDI policies.

●        Indian captain Virat Kohli has been selected as the best cricketer of the BCCI for the best performance in two seasons, while World Cup stars Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana will be given this award in the women category.
●        The awards ceremony will be held in Bangalore on 12 June 2018.
●        Virat Kohli will be given Rs. 15 lakhs as a reward for every season.
●        In the memory of former president Jagmohan Dalmiya, the BCCI has given four awards.

Global Peace Index 2018: India ranked 137th
 
●        In the Global Peace Index released by the Institute for Economic and Peace, India, in 2018, India remained at number 137 in the list of 163 countries.
●        India was at 141th place in the list in the year 2017 and this time, due to the increase of four places in the ranking of India, the decline in the level of violent crime is being reported.

Google completes Railtel Wi-Fi project
