Implementation of Sustainable Tourism Criteria for India Launched
Shri Vinod Zutshi, Secretary Ministry of Tourism, launched the Implementation of the Sustainable Tourism Criteria for India in association with Ecotourism Society of India.
● Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Steve Borgia, the President of ESOI hailed the commitment shown by Ministry of Tourism.
● India is one of the few countries in the world to have a criteria of its own.
● Mr C.B.Ramkumar, Board member ,Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria presented the global picture and also suggested the direction which India could go in this regard.
● The Sustainable Tourism Criteria for India had been developed for the accommodation, tour operators and beaches, backwaters and lakes sectors of the tourism industry after thorough discussions with the stakeholders.
● The STCI follow the guidelines set by the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria that has been evolved under the guidance of the United Nations’ agencies viz. UNEP and UNWTO.
● After much deliberations, the STCI were finally launched on 26th August 2014.

श्री विनोद जुत्शी, पर्यटन मंत्रालय के सचिव, ने भारत के पर्यावरण पर्यटन सोसायटी के सहयोग से भारत के लिए स्थायी पर्यटन मानदंड के कार्यान्वयन का शुभारंभ किया।
● इस अवसर पर बोलते हुए श्री स्टीव बोर्गिया, ईएसओआई के अध्यक्ष ने पर्यटन मंत्रालय द्वारा दिखाए गए प्रतिबद्धता की सराहना की।
● भारत दुनिया के कुछ देशों में से है जिनकी अपनी खुद की मानदंड है।
● श्री सी.बी.रामकुमार, बोर्ड के सदस्य, ने ग्लोबल स्थायी पर्यटन मानदंड का वैश्विक चित्र प्रस्तुत किया और भारत को इस संबंध में किस दिशा में जाना चाहिए उसपर सुझाव दिया।
● भारत के लिए स्थायी पर्यटन मानदंड हितधारकों के साथ पूरी तरह से विचार विमर्श के बाद आवास, टूर ऑपरेटरों और समुद्र तटों, अप्रवाही और झीलों क्षेत्रों पर्यटन उद्योग के लिए विकसित किया गया था।
● एसटीसीआई दिशा निर्देश स्थायी पर्यटन मानदंड है जो संयुक्त राष्ट्र एजेंसियों के मार्गदर्शन में विकसित किया गया है और जो यूएनईपी और यूएनडब्लूटीओ निर्धारित करती है।
● विचार-विमर्श के बाद, एसटीसीआई 26वें अगस्त 2014 को शुरू किया गया।
