Andy Murray on 15 May 2016 won his first Italian Open Men's Singles Tennis title. In the final played in Rome, third-ranked Murray defeated the top-ranked Djokovic 6-3, 6-3.
•    It is Murray's first title in Rome and it comes exactly a week before the French Open begins on 22 May 2016.
•    The only other British man to win the tournament was George Patrick Hughes in 1931. 
•    He is also the first British singles champion in Italy since Virginia Wade won the title in 1971.
•    On the other hand, Serena Williams ended a nine-month title drought with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Madison Keys in an all American women's Singles final.
•    Besides, Sania Mirza and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis won the Women's Doubles 
•    In the final, the World Number One pair defeated the 7th seeded Russians Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina 6-1, 6-7, 10-3.
