  • 23 - 27 September 2019: The SSC JE Paper-I exam was held for the year 2018-19. A total number of 3,77,133 candidates have appeared in the Examination.
  • 14 - 17 October 2019: Candidates can check their answer key and raise objections if any from 14 October 2019 to 17 October 2019.
  • 12 December 2019: The result of SSC JE Paper-I was declared by the commission. And students were given one month time period to check their result by visiting the official website.
  • 24 December 2019 - 23 January 2020: Students can start downloading their results starting from 24 December 2019. The last date for downloading the result for the year 2018-19 was 23 January 2020.
  • 13 August 2019: The commission released the official SSC JE Exam Notification for the year 2019-20.
  • 13 August 2019 - 12 September 2019: Candidates willing to apply for the exam can start the online registration from August 13, 2019. The last date to fill the SSC JE Application form was announced as September 12, 2019
  • 18 March 2020: Candidates were able to download the SSC JE Admit Card 2020 for Tier-I Exam. It is mandatory to carry the admit card to the examination center.
  • 30 March 2020 - 02 April 2020: The SSC JE Tier-I Exam is scheduled to be conducted starting from 30 March 2020. And the last date of the exam is on 02 April 2020. However, the exam dates are postponed due to coronavirus.
  • 21 June 2020: The Staff Selection Commission is scheduled to conduct SSC JE Tier-II Exam.

What is SSC JE?

The SSC JE is a highly competitive examination conducted every year to recruit suitable candidates as Junior Engineer in civil, mechanical and electrical engineering, Quantity Surveying, and Contract branches under various Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations in the Government of India. All posts are categorized under Group-B posts that mean Non-Gazetted posts. Many students will apply every year for SSC JE due to its high paid salary and extra allowances. SSC JE Exam is conducted in two stages: Prelims and Mains. Candidates who will clear the preliminary round of the SSC JE exam will qualify for Mains examination as the next stage of the selection process.

How many stages of the SSC JE examination will conduct in 2020?

The SSC JE Exam is conducted in two stages:

  • Tier-I Exam 
  • Tier-II Exam

Tier-I Exam is a computer-based test and the exam is conducted for 200 marks whereas Tier-II Exam is a descriptive test (pen & paper mode) and the question paper is for 300 marks. Only candidates who qualify in the Paper-I exam will be allowed for Paper-II Exam. Candidates need to score minimum cut-off marks set by the commission in order to qualify in the examination.

What is the exam date of the SSC JE Tier-I Exam 2020?

The SSC JE Tier-I Exam 2020 was scheduled to be held starting from 30 March 2020 to 02 April 2020. Which Diploma degree is valid to apply the SSC JE exam?

Three years Diploma or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an institution recognized by the Central Government or State Government is valid to apply the SSC JE Exam. Diploma degree from Private or govt. institutions, Correspondence Diploma certificates from recognized institutions, Diploma Equivalent courses which are done by EX Servicemen from Armed forces are also valid to apply for SSC JE.

What is the age limit for the General category into SSC JE post?

For General category, age limit vary as per department allocations through SSC JE exams which is as follows:
up to 32 years ( CWC, CPWD )
18-27 years (Department of Post )
18-27 years ( MES-Military engineering services )

Are there any specifications for uploading photo and signature in the application form of SSC JE Exam?

Yes. Candidates need to follow certain specifications while uploading photos and signature in the application of the SSC JE Exam. The size of the photo should be 4 to 20 KB and the signature should be between 1 to 12 KB. Both Photo and signature should be uploaded only in JPEG format.

What is the average salary of SSC JE employees?

All the junior engineers recruited through SSC are Non-Gazetted employees under Group B in Level-6 and have a pay scale of 35400-112400 INR of pay matrix after 7th central pay commission. The average salary for SSC JE employees is decided separately for each level and all the allowances also depend on the level of the pay scale.
