Important Note:

  • HPSC has revised parts of the selection process (following a Punjab & Haryana High Court order) for later recruitment cycles.

  • You can still use these question papers to understand question difficulty, legal topics tested, and language style.

Importance of Solving Haryana ADA Previous Year Question Papers for Prelims and Mains

Simply studying from books, notes, and other resources may not be enough to clear the Haryana ADA exam. Here's why it's important to solve Haryana ADA PYPs for the screening test and subject knowledge test.

Haryana ADA Screening Test Previous Year Question Paper

The Screening Test is the first stage of the Haryana ADA selection process. It's an objective-type paper made up of MCQs.

The purpose of this exam is only to shortlist candidates for the next stage; marks scored here are not added to your final merit.

How solving previous year question paper helps your screening test preparation?

It helps you:

  • Understand how law-based MCQs are framed (definitions, sections, case-based one-liners)
  • Gauge the mix between Law, General Awareness, and General English questions
  • Practice under exam-like time pressure before attempting a fresh mock

Haryana ADA Subject Knowledge Test Previous Year Question Paper

The Subject Knowledge Test is a descriptive, law-focused stage of the exam. Unlike the Screening Test, this paper carries significant weightage in your final selection.

It evaluates the depth of your legal knowledge, drafting ability, and analytical reasoning.

How solving previous year question paper helps your subject knowledge test preparation?

It helps you:

  • Get an idea about how Civil Law and Criminal Law questions are actually asked in a descriptive format
  • Identify various legal provisions and case laws that get repeated focus
  • Practice structured, time-bound written answers

How to Use These Haryana ADA Previous Year Question Papers Effectively?

Solving the Haryana ADA previous year question papers without a proper structure or without analyzing your answers is of no use. Here's how to make the best of these question papers.

  • Always Set a Timer: Attempt the Screening Test paper within 2 hours and the Subject Knowledge Test within 3 hours, matching real exam conditions.
  • Cross-check Answers Carefully: For the Screening Test, verify against a reliable answer key. For the Subject Knowledge Test, compare your written answers against standard legal provisions and case law.
  • Track Recurring Topics: Note which Acts, sections, or legal concepts show up more than once. Such topics deserve extra revision time.
  • Don't Stop at One Attempt: Revisit the same paper after a study cycle to measure real improvement, not just familiarity.

Remember: Haryana ADA Syllabus 2026 Focuses on the New Criminal Laws

If you're solving the 2023 papers, there's one important thing to remember: the laws tested in 2023 are not the same laws currently in force.

The 2023 Haryana ADA papers were based on the three colonial-era criminal statutes:

  • Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860
  • Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1973
  • Indian Evidence Act, 1872

From 1 July 2024, these were replaced nationwide by three new criminal codes:

Old Law

New Law

Indian Penal Code (IPC)

Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023

Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC)

Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023

Indian Evidence Act (IEA)

Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), 2023

Here are a few points you should consider:

  • Use 2023 papers for pattern and question style, not for section numbers. The way questions are framed (case-based, scenario-based, definition-based) is still highly relevant. But if a 2023 question refers to "Section 302 IPC" (murder), you should also know its corresponding provision under BNS.
  • Don't ignore your IPC/CrPC/Evidence Act prep. The new codes are heavily based on the old ones. Many provisions are renumbered or lightly reframed rather than conceptually new. Knowing the old law actually makes learning the new one faster.
  • Cross-map key sections as you revise, e.g., IPC murder provisions → BNS, CrPC arrest provisions → BNSS. So, you're not caught off guard by either version in the exam.
  • Watch for genuinely new content. Provisions on organized crime, terrorism, mob lynching, and stricter investigation/trial timelines didn't exist under the old laws and need to be studied fresh from BNS/BNSS/BSA directly.

Good Luck with your preparation!

Conclusion

Here are your key takeaways:

  • Practicing previous year's question paper helps you understand the actual exam pattern and how questions are asked.
  • Always set a time when solving papers to build the correct exam temperament.
  • Remember to focus more on new criminal laws along with understanding the older laws as well.
