The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level examination that provides admission in 3-year & 5-year Integrated LLB and LLM programs offered by National Law Universities (except NLU Delhi) and other law schools that accept CLAT scores. The official list of the 67 exam cities with centers has been released by the official conducting body. In each test city, there will be multiple test centers depending on the number of candidates appearing for CLAT.

Latest News: As per the recent notice released by CLAT Consortium, the CLAT Exam 2020 is scheduled for 28 September 2020 has been postponed. The admit card has been released on 15th September 2020 on the official website of CLAT. 

  • Admit cards of provisionally eligible candidates will be available for download on the official website at least one week prior to the examination.
  • Students Exam date, venue for the Exam, and email will be stated in the CLAT 2020 Admit Card.
  • Candidates are required to select at most three Exam cities according to their preference during the application process that will be allotted as per the availability
  • Once allocated the candidate will not be able to change the examination center opted nor any request for a change in examination center will be entertained by the Conducting body.
  • Students must ensure that they hold their CLAT Admit Card in the Exam Room. They will not be allowed in the Exam Center without the Hall card.
  • Candidates must have prior information about the exam center such as its location, to reach at least one hour prior to the scheduled time of the CLAT Exam

Documents to be carried to CLAT Exam Center 

Applicants must carry any of the following photo ID proofs for identity verification, along with the CLAT Admit Card. The list shall be as follows:

  • PAN Card
  • Passport
  • Photo identity proof issued by a People’s Representative on official letterhead along with a photograph
  • Photo identity proof issued by a Gazetted Officer on official letterhead along with a photograph
  • Driving License
  • Voter’s ID Card
  • Valid recent Identity Card issued by a recognized College/ University
  • Bank Passbook with a photograph
  • Aadhar card with a photograph/ Employee ID/ Bar Council Identity Card

Instructions for CLAT Exam Centers

All applicants are advised to follow the directions provided below at their respective exam centers;

  • Carry all the documentation needed along with the official CLAT Admit Card.
  • All applicants must ensure that they do not bring any unrequired objects, such as paper chits or electronic devices like mobile phones, Bluetooth, earphones, pager, health band, etc, to the test center.
  • Applicants must reach the exam center at least one hour before the start of the test.
  • Applicants will not be permitted to enter the Exam Center until 30 minutes from the start of the Test.
  • Handle the OMR sheet carefully to prevent damage and rough work can only be performed on the space available in the exam booklet.

Instructions for Candidates Using a Scribe

Candidates who are visually impaired or affected by cerebral palsy or with locomotor impairment, and whose speed of writing or use of keyboard/mouse is affected, can get the help of a scribe for online examination. The candidates have the option of bringing a scribe of his/her choice or opt for a scribe to be arranged by CLAT Authorities.the option is to be chosen in the online application. Any subsequent request will not be entertained. When scribe is used, the following may apply:

  • The scribe may be from any academic stream
  • In case the scribe is arranged by the candidate, the candidate needs to provide a declaration stating he/she would comply with all the rules & regulations and would not indulge in any unfair activity such as; helping out the candidate in answering questions. They can only read the questions and mark / click the correct answers.
  • The ‘Specially Abled persons’ (SAP) / Person with Disability(PwD) shall be eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes for every hour of the examination.
  • Candidates are also needed to upload the photocopies of the Certificate of Disability from the appropriate authority(attested by Gazetted officers).

Do I need to submit my admit card to the CLAT exam center?

No, the exam center authorities only need the admit card for verification of the applicant, and they will return it to the candidates once verification is complete.

I can't find the CLAT exam center allocated to the admit card, what do I do?

Candidates must have prior information about the exam center such as its location, to avoid any delay. In case of any queries or difficulties regarding the CLAT exam, candidates are advised to contact the helpline numbers of the consortium.

What things do I need to carry on the day of the exam to the CLAT exam center?

You must carry the admit card of CLAT 2020 along with a valid identity proof (Aadhar Card/ Voter Id card/ Driving License/ Passport, etc.) to their respective examination centers.

What will happen in case of some problem with the computer during the online CLAT exam at the exam center?

In such cases of computer system failure or any other related problems, the candidates should intimate the examination invigilator. However, there will be enough buffer systems available at the examination system to take care of such problems. Moreover, the time lost in changing of systems will be duly counted and compensated as every second will be recorded by the examination server.

Will I be given extra sheets/papers for rough work and calculations?

Yes, examination centers will be providing the rough sheets for calculations. However, no electronic devices will be allowed in the CLAT examination centers.
