The West Bengal Judicial Services Exam is conducted in 3 stages - Preliminary, Main and Interview (Viva-Voce) :

Prelims: 200 MCQs, 2 hours 30 minutes, screening only.
Final written: 11 papers, 1,100 marks.
Interview (Viva-Voce): 100 marks.

From the 2024 exam onwards, BNS, BNSS and BSA replace IPC, CrPC and the Evidence Act in both prelims and mains. On 21 August 2026, the Supreme Court reduced the practice requirement for Civil Judge posts from three years to one year. Fresh graduates get relief in advertisements issued up to 31 March 2027.

West Bengal judiciary 2026 : Latest Updates

The West Bengal Judiciary Preliminary Examination result was released by WBPSC on 14 October 2026. The 493 candidates have qualified for the Final (written) Examination of the West Bengal Judicial Service Examination, 2024 (Advt. No. 9/2024). WBPSC has released the West Bengal Judiciary Cut Off 2026 for the prelims with the result.

The General category cutoff is 119 out of 200. That is about 59.5% of the total marks.
The other category cutoffs are OBC 80, ST 70.75, SC 57.5, PwBD (UR) 35.75 and EWS 34, all out of 200.
A total of 493 candidates cleared their category cutoff and have been called for the Final Written Examination on a provisional basis.
The General cutoff is 34.75 marks higher than in the 2023 cycle, when it was 84.25. The ST cutoff almost doubled, from 40 to 70.75.
This year OBC has a single cutoff. Earlier cycles had separate figures for OBC-A and OBC-B.
