After the wait of 4 years, the Uttar Pradesh Public Commission announced the most awaited vacancies for Civil Judge Recruitment through a public notice. Following that, the notification on the UP PCS J Exam was published on December 10, 2022.

The exam is conducted in three phases – Preliminary, Main Exam, and interview. All three phases of the exam are qualifying in nature. The final selection will be based on the marks scored in the main (written) exam and the interview.

You may be surprised to know the changes introduced in reservations, vacancies, and the syllabus. 

  • Earlier, there weren't many categories under the reservation policies. However, candidates of PWD and locomotory disability, leprosy, dwarfism, acid attack victims, low vision and hearing were also given reservation.
  • A total of 9 new topics are added including social relevance to persons with disabilities, senior citizens and offences on women & children, maintenance & welfare of parents, salient features of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016, Senior Citizens Act, 2007, and Dowry Act.

UP Judiciary Exam Notification 2023

The Uttar Pradesh Judiciary Exam is one of the most sought-after examinations in India. Every year, thousands of aspirants from across the country appear for the exam to make their mark in the judiciary.

The UP Judiciary Exam is conducted to recruit suitable candidates for the post of Civil Judge. The official notification was released on the official website of the UP Public Service Commission.

The recruitment process for the UP Judicial Service vacancies started from 10 December 2022, and the candidates selected will be appointed as Civil Judges (Junior Division). This position is very important, as the Civil Judge (Junior Division) is responsible for delivering justice to the people of UP. He also ensures that justice is delivered unbiasedly and fairly.

This year, the Uttar Pradesh High Court released the vacancy list on 10 December 2022. However, the total number of vacancies for all categories is 303

According to the Uttar Pradesh Judicial Service (Fifth Amendment) Rules, 2022, regarding Amendment in Uttar Pradesh Judicial Service Rules, 2001, 4% of vacancies shall be reserved for the following persons with “benchmark disabilities”, namely:

(i) 1% for the persons in the following category of disabilities under the category of ‘Locomotor disability (as defined in the Schedule appended to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016) 

(a) Locomotor disability of OneArm, One Leg and Both Legs

(b) Leprosy-cured person

(c) Dwarfism

(d) Acid attack victims

UP Judiciary Exam 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Those who will satisfy specific eligibility requirements can apply for the exam. The detailed UP PCS J Exam Eligibility Criteria regarding age limit, educational qualification, and nationality are below.

  • You must have completed a Bachelor of Laws from the any recognized University of Uttar Pradesh.
  • You must be an Advocate enrolled under the provisions of the Advocate Act 1961, a Barrister of England or Northern Ireland, or a Member Faculty of Advocates in Scotland and are entitled to practice in the Court.
  • You must possess a thorough Knowledge of Hindi in Devnagri Script.
  • You must be a Citizen of India. 
  • A candidate for direct recruitment to the service must have attained the age of 22 years and must not have attained the age of more than 35 years on the first day of July next following the year, i.e. 01.07.2023.
  • They must not have been born after 1st July 2001 and not before 2nd July 1988.

UP PCS J Application Process 2023

You can fill out the UP Judiciary Application Form only online mode. If you are interested in applying for the UP Judiciary exam, fill out the online form on or before the last date.

On clicking "ALL NOTIFICATIONS/ADVERTISEMENTS” on the official website of UP Public Service Commission, i.e., uppsc.up.nic.in, the online advertisement will be displayed for the post of Civil Judge in three parts.

  1. User Instructions
  2. View Advertisement
  3. Apply

Click on “Apply” for Online Application.

You can follow the three stages mentioned below while filling out the online form:

First Stage:

  • On clicking “Apply”, the candidate registration form will be displayed.
  • The basic registration form will be displayed by clicking the ‘Candidate Registration’ respective to the Examination.
  • After filling out the basic registration form, the candidates must check all the information filled by them.
  • If any correction/modification is required, click on the "Edit" button and ensure the required corrections/modifications.
  • After being fully satisfied with all the information filled, click on ‘Submit Application’.
  • Consequently, the registration of the first stage shall be over. Thereafter “Print Registration Slip” shall be displayed, and Print of Registration Slip must be taken by clicking on Print Registration Slip.

Second Stage:

  • After completing the procedure of the first stage, ‘Fee’ shall be displayed with the caption “Click here to proceed for payment”.
  • After clicking the above caption of “Click here to proceed for payment”, the home page of State Bank MOPS (Multi Option Payment System) shall be displayed comprising three modes of payment which are as follows:
  1. NET BANKING
  2. CARD PAYMENTS
  3. OTHER PAYMENT MODES.
  • After depositing the required fee by any one of the above-prescribed modes, “Payment Acknowledgement Receipt (PAR)” shall be displayed along with detail of the fee payment, the print of which must be taken by clicking on “Print Payment Receipt.”

Three Stages:

  • On completion of the procedure of the second stage, click on “Proceed for final submission of the application form". 
  • The candidates must enter all the required information in the format prescribed in the Notification.
  • After filling in all entries in the format, the candidates may click “PREVIEW” to see for themselves that all entries and information are correctly entered.
  • After fully satisfying themselves should click the "SUBMIT" button to forward the same to the Commission.

UP Judiciary Exam 2023 Application Fee

After filling out the application form, the category-wise prescribed examination fees will be displayed on the screen.

The application fee can be paid only online using a debit card, credit card, or NEFT. An online transaction fee of 25 INR will also be charged along with the UP Civil Judge Exam application fee.

The prescribed fee for Preliminary examination for different categories is mentioned below:

  • Unreserved / Other Backward Classes/ Economically Weaker sections – Exam fee Rs. 100/- + On-line processing fee Rs. 25/- Total = Rs. 125/-
  • Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes – Exam fee Rs. 40/- + On-line processing fee Rs. 25/- Total = Rs. 65/-
  • Persons with Disabilities – Exam fee NIL+ On-line processing fee Rs. 25/- Total = Rs. 25/-

UP PCS J Admit Card 2023

UPPSC releases the admit card two weeks before the commencement of the examination. The Commission (UPPSC) releases the UP Judiciary Admit Card on its official portal. You must log in to the portal using the user ID and password to download the admit card.

On clicking "Admit Card/Hall Ticket", candidates can download their Admit Card using some basic credentials of the candidate. 

Note that any disparity/discrepancy in the details mentioned in the admit card and the ones provided during registration will result in the cancellation of your candidature.
