The first phase of the CUET 2024 exam is over, and now phase 2 is ongoing.

Now having a conversation with some students who attempted Phase 1 exam, we found some mistakes and the wrong approaches to the exam.

Here we will point out those mistakes and hope you will avoid doing that in Phase 2 of the CUET exam. This will highly affect your CUET results, so make sure to keep them in mind.

Some common mistakes that students make while attempting the CUET Phase 1 exam are-

Not Understanding the Sequence of Sections

The most common thing we got to hear was that students were confused about the sequence of the sections that were provided. And how they are going to solve them.

  • Suppose you chose slot 1 for your phase 1 exam
  • There you have four sections 2 domain-based sections, 1 GK, and 1 language section.
  • The problem was that if your time for a particular section is over, you will automatically be redirected to the next section.
  • So don't panic; always start with the section you are strong at.
  • There is no definite rule that you have selected language at first, so you will have to start the paper with the language section only.

This will help you boost your confidence and also save you time for the rest of the sections.

Attempting All the Questions

Some students were full of joy and stated that they had attempted all the questions in the paper and mostly flaunted them. While the honest review said the paper was a bit lengthy, and we didn't have enough time to complete the paper.

When reviewed, those who attempted all the questions turned out that some were even incorrect. This leads to negative marking, eventually lowering your marks and rank. So instead-

  • Try to attempt maximum questions that you are sure about.
  • Even if you are flaunting, calculate it using various elimination methods.
  • It's not about attempting all the questions but attempting maximum questions correctly.

Thinking The Paper Is Very Easy

As you know, the CUET Phase 1 exam was conducted consecutively for 2-3 days. So during that time, students got ample time and did a lot of preparations.

Also, students have recently appeared for the board exam, so the CUET Syllabus domain section was already prepared for them. All they had to do was strengthen their GK and language section.

The ease of the exam depends on your preparation level, and for some, it was very easy others said it was moderate.

However, you should keep these things in mind even if your preparations are complete and you are confident about the CUET Phase 2 exam-

  • Never approach the paper thinking it is too easy for you.
  • Make sure to keep your preparations level up to the hardest level of the paper.
  • If the paper is easy for all, your chances of selection get disturbed. In this kind of competitive exam, even a difference of 1 mark can land you in a completely different college than what you have expected.

Hard to Manage Time In The Examination

The maths section of the Phase 1 exam was lengthy. Most of the students complained they were not able to complete the paper due to a lack of time.

Yes, it's an issue, but you should also see the other side as you can manage that time while attempting the GK section. Many questions in the GK part can be answered quickly and consume less time for you.

If you need extra motivation, do not hesitate to seek help. Take the CUET mock and know where you stand with your preparations. And then consider if you require the Online Coaching Classes 2024

So, for phase 2, make sure to keep these in mind-

  • Make sure to carry your own watch.
  • Starting from the beginning, managing time from the start will allow you to save some extra time for the lengthier sections like maths.
  • Start with GK and current affairs and solve them as fast as possible. Then go for the rest of the sections as per your preference.

Confusion In MCQs

This is obvious for all the freshers who have attempted competitive exams for the first time. Till now, you have only appeared for subjective type question papers, but here the scenario changes.

  • MCQs are always designed to look easy, but don't fall into the trap
  • Having identical answers in all the options always confuses students; sometimes, you might pick the wrong ones even knowing the answer.
  • Be careful when choosing any answer and check before proceeding to the next one.
  • Even while flaunting, make sure to use the logical elimination method.

Conclusion

Never go to attempt a paper in confusion. On the day of the exam, just leave your studies, revision, and everything else. Just stay calm as one last preparation day won't change.

What you have prepared for the whole year will matter more. If you have done good preparation, just be confident and approach the exam in the same manner.
