The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is conducted by the NTA every year as the gateway test for top universities across India. With CUET registrations almost halfway done, and the exam right around the corner, students will be wondering if there are any changes in the exam pattern in 2024.

NTA has released the CUET exam pattern for the year 2024. While there is not much change in the exam pattern from previous years, CUET has introduced some new guidelines to help students preparing for CUET 2024.

CUET Exam Pattern for UG 2024

The CUET exam pattern contains three sections,

• Section 1A 1B - Language Test: This section is designed to test the student’s language proficiency. Students can choose from 13 languages in 1A and 20 languages in 1B.
• Section 2 - Domain Test: This section is to test the domain knowledge of the students for their desired programs
• Section 3 - General Test:This section tests the student’s general knowledge, reasoning and comprehension skills.

*For certain domain subjects like Mathematics/Applied Mathematics, Accountancy, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, and Computer Science/Informatics Practices the allotted time will be 60 minutes.

CUET Exam Marking Scheme for 2024

The CUET exam total marks for sections 1 and 2 is 200 marks, and section 3 is 250. Each question carries five marks for the correct answer and 1 mark gets deducted for each wrong answer. Un attempted questions carry no marks.

CUET Exam Structure

The CUET exam will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). CUET UG exam for 2024 will have the Hybrid structure, that is it will have both online and offline mode.

This step was taken by the NTA to ensure that candidates from both urban and rural places have easy access to the examination, reducing the need for long distance travel to the CUET exam centres for 2024.

How Many Subjects can be Chosen in CUET 2024

NTA also reduced the number of subject choices for the students. Students will now be limited to 6 subjects instead of the previous limit of 10.

This new change was brought forth to alleviate the stress students felt while preparing for the exam.
