CBSE Class 12 English Elective Syllabus

According to the yearly assessment method, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued the new CBSE English Elective Class 12 syllabus for the current academic session. As a result, students will take a single board exam at the end of the academic year in 2024-25.

English Elective (001) is a highly scoring subject. Because it requires constant effort, underestimating it could affect your grades and overall performance.

This section will have two unseen passages and a poem:

Literature - 22 Marks

This section will include various assessment items, including Multiple-Choice Questions, Objective-Type Questions, Short-Answer Questions, and Long-Answer Questions, to assess comprehension, analysis, interpretation, and extrapolation beyond the text.

Fiction - 10 Marks

The short answer questions in this section test your understanding and appreciation and seek comments, interpretations, evaluations, and appreciation of characters, events, episodes, and interpersonal relationships. 

There is also a long answer question to assess your in-depth comprehension of the text, requiring you to analyze characters, events, and themes. You must interpret the text, support your interpretations with evidence, and formulate original perspectives.
