Overview: All judiciary aspirants, this needs your attention! If you’ve been simply waiting around for the RJS recruitment process, it’s time you stop waiting and appear for the Rajasthan APO exam 2026.

  • The RPSC APO 2026 and RJS exams have a significant syllabus overlap.
  • This is a golden opportunity for candidates with 371 vacancies.
  • Candidates do not need any prior experience to be eligible for this post.

In this blog we give you all the reasons why you should appear for Rajasthan APO 2026 especially if you’re a judiciary aspirant.

Let’s begin!

7 Reasons Judiciary Aspirants Must Appear for Rajasthan APO 2026

Rajasthan APO Exam

Rajasthan APO 2026 is an alternative career pathway that can be easily pursued parallelly with judicial service preparation.

Here’s why you should not miss this opportunity:

1.This is the Largest Recruitment Cycle for RPSC APO in Recent History

The RPSC has announced 371 vacancies for the APO post in 2026. This is the largest recruitment announced for this post in recent history.

Total vacancies include 355 posts in the Non-Scheduled Area and 16 posts in the Scheduled Area, with category-wise reservations for SC, ST, OBC, MBC, and EWS candidates.

There are dedicated seats for women, and widows (WD).

Sitting out on a 371-seat cycle while waiting for another exam is a strategic decision you must weigh carefully.

2. The Timeline is Confirmed and Applications Are Still Open

Unlike many exams where dates remain tentative for months, RPSC has announced a clear timeline for Rajasthan APO 2026 exam and recruitment process.

This official schedule was declared in the official notification released on 27th May 2026.

3. No Prior Experience Required

While you need 3 years of practice to appear in the judiciary exams, Rajasthan APO eligibility criteria are quite simple and straightforward.

As per the official RPSC APO Notification 2026, the eligibility criteria are:

  • Educational Qualification: A Degree in Law (Professional) or an Integrated Law Course from a University established by law in India
  • Language Requirement: Working knowledge of Hindi written in Devanagari script, and knowledge of Rajasthani dialects and social customs of Rajasthan
  • Age: 21 to 40 years as on 1st January 2027 (relaxations applicable for reserved categories as per State Government rules)
  • Prior Work Experience: Not mandatory

Note: Only candidates who have attained their law degree by the last date of application can apply. There is no provision for final-year-law students.

4. Significant Syllabus Alignment with Judiciary Exams

One of the biggest advantages of appearing for the Rajasthan APO Exam is the overlap between its syllabus and that of most state judiciary exams.

The official RPSC APO syllabus 2026, as notified, includes core subjects that form the foundation of RJS preparation as well:

  • Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) / Indian Penal Code
  • Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) / Code of Criminal Procedure
  • Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) / Indian Evidence Act
  • Constitution of India
  • Special Acts: POCSO, NDPS Act, SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Arms Act, JJ Act, and relevant Rajasthan-specific legislation

At least for these topics you don’t need to begin from scratch if you are already preparing for judiciary exams.

5. Get Actual Courtroom Exposure Before You Appear for Judiciary Exams

If you clear Rajasthan APO exam, you will get direct, live courtroom practice in criminal law.

As an Assistant Prosecution Officer, your official responsibilities under the Home (Prosecution) Department include:

  • Representing the State in criminal courts
  • Assisting in investigation and trial stages
  • Drafting charge sheets, legal notices, and reports
  • Coordinating with police and law enforcement agencies
  • Examining and cross-examining witnesses in open court

An aspirant who has represented the State in a sessions trial has a fundamentally different understanding of criminal procedure than one who has only read about it.

This experience will give you an edge if you appear for judiciary exams in the future.

6. Competitive Compensation

The candidates who get selected after the Rajasthan APO mains will be entitled for a salary of ₹35,400 - ₹1,12,400 per month under Pay Matrix Level 11.

  • The salary is based on the 7th Pay Commission
  • Includes Rajasthan Government perks (DA, HRA, medical allowances, etc.)

This is one of the best entry-level pay scales available to law graduates entering government service in Rajasthan.

7. Government Service Status and Future Benefits

Under various state judicial service rules, existing state government employees are entitled to age relaxation and may benefit from departmental quota provisions when applying for higher services.

Joining as an APO keeps you within the government legal system, which can expand rather than limit your future options (including the path to judiciary).

Why Not Simply Wait for Other Judiciary Exams?

Judicial service examinations are not annual events in most states. Cycles have been delayed by two to four years historically.

Notifications are released by High Courts or State Public Service Commissions at their own discretion, and there is no statutory guarantee of regularity.

Let’s take a look at recent official notifications for judicial vacancies.

State

Recent Official Vacancy Count

Rajasthan (RJS)

44 Civil Judge posts (Notification: 27 Feb 2026)

Delhi (DJS)

53 Civil Judge posts (Notification: Nov 2025)

Kerala

17 Civil Judge posts (Notification: 2025)

Assam

22 Civil Judge posts (Notification: 2025)

Uttarakhand

8 Civil Judge posts (Notification: May 2025)

Bihar

173 Civil Judge posts (Notification: Feb 2026)

  • Even states with larger judicial cadres such as Bihar, UP, and Maharashtra, announce judicial service vacancies in cycles that are unpredictable and often delayed by one to several years.
  • As of March 2026, only Bihar had officially released its state judiciary notification; all other state vacancies were yet to be announced.

On the other hand, Rajasthan APO 2026 offers you:

  • An open application window right now (closing 07 July 2026)
  • 371 confirmed seats; more than any current state judiciary notification in India
  • A syllabus almost entirely shared with PCS-J / judicial service preparation across states
  • Entry into the criminal justice system with real courtroom experience that directly strengthens future judiciary exam performance
  • A gazette government salary during your preparation period, instead of financial dependence

Make a wise decision!
