Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering (GATE) is a national level exam conducted for engineering graduates. The seven IITs in the country conduct the GATE Exam. After the examinations are done, the candidates are required to qualify the exam by securing more than the GATE Cut Off. 

The GATE cut off is the minimum qualifying marks that candidates require to secure to get a chance for securing a seat in IISc, IITs, and NITs, etc. Candidates to complete their postgraduate programs like MS, M.E, M.Tech, Direct Ph.D. need to clear the required cut off, to get selected for GATE Counselling held by these institutes.

• Candidates can check the GATE cut off at the official website of GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS).

• After the result has been declared, cut off is also declared on the same date.
• After qualifying the GATE cut off, candidates will be selected as per the required cut off by the particular institute for the applied course.
• Cut-offs are released as per different branches (24 papers) of engineering.
• Candidates who clear institutes cut off, selected for GATE counseling.
• The GATE result is valid for three years.
• The time duration for this exam is 180 minutes(three hours).
• GATE exam comprises of three papers- Engineering Mathematics, General Aptitude and subjective paper(for the chosen stream).
• There is a negative marking.

GATE cut off is decided by the participating institutes and the authority, based on some of the below-mentioned factors:

• As per the difficulty level of the exam conducted
• Caste basis categorization
• Total number of the candidates appeared for the exam
• Total number of the seats available in the participating institutes

How to Check GATE 2020 Cut Off?

• Go to the official website of IIT Delhi
• IIT Delhi homepage will appear, click on the link to “Download the cut off marks.”
• Put the required information, like Password and Roll Number
• The GATE cut off will appear on the screen 
• Download and take out the print out of the same

Cut off: Difference between Regulatory Body Cut off and CutOff set by Institutes

GATE cut off is the minimum qualifying marks, but it doesn’t mean that clearing these minimum marks will ensure your admission in those participating institutes. You also need to qualify the cut off released by the participating institutes for the particular stream.
