President of the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Csaba Korosi arrived in New Delhi     

  • President of the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Csaba Korosi arrived in New Delhi today on a three-day visit to India. This is his first bilateral visit to any country since he assumed UNGA Presidency in September last year. The External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in a tweet that this is an opportunity to exchange views on global challenges that the United Nations is currently seized with.
  • During the visit, Mr. Korosi will hold talks with External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar on key multilateral and regional issues of mutual interest. He has outlined a few priorities for his UNGA Presidency. These include standing firm on the basic principles of the United Nations Charter and making significant and measurable progress in sustainability

Two-Day Inception Meeting Of Startup-20 Begins In Hyderabad         

  • A two-day inception meeting of the Startup-20, the new engagement group of G20 initiated by India, has begun in Hyderabad. Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy, G-20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, Startup-20 Chair Chintan Vaishnav, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, DIPTYCH secretary Anurag Jain, G-20 Secretariat JS Asish Sinha JS participated while about 180 delegates from G-20 member countries and nine special invitee countries besides stakeholders including Startups, investors and innovators attended the inaugural meeting.
  • The Union Minister asked the delegates to visit tourist places in India and places of cultural importance during startup meetings. Speaking on the occasion, G-20 Sherpa said the country has achieved considerable growth in the field of startups due to massive disruption in the fields of Science & Technology. This has led to the development of Digital identity and digital public platforms, he added.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launches Ladli Bahina Scheme.      

  • Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said his government will launch a new scheme to provide Rs 1,000 per month to women from financially poor background in the state, where the Assembly polls are due this year-end.
  • Indian Air Force orders inquiry to find the cause of accident of two fighter planes at Morena Indian Air Force orders inquiry to determine the cause of accident of two fighter planes at Morena. In Madhya Pradesh Morena district, two Indian Air Force fighter aircraft crashed in the Pahadgarh area. As per reports, Sukhoi-30 and Mirage 2000 aircraft have crashed. Details are awaited.

Odisha Minister Naba Kishore Das, Who Was Shot In Chest, Dies In Hospital 

  • Naba Kisore Das was shot in the chest when he was on his way to attend a programme. New Delhi: Naba Kisore Das, Odisha health minister who was critically injured after being shot at by a police officer, has died in hospital. The officer, who has been arrested, was undergoing treatment for mental illness, reports said.
  • President Droupadi Murmu to grace opening of Gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan in Udyan Utsav 2023 President Droupadi Murmu will grace the opening of the Gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan – Udyan Utsav 2023 today. Among several other attractions, the visitors will be able to see specially cultivated tulips of twelve unique varieties which are expected to bloom in phases. This time the Gardens will be open for about two months. The Gardens will open for the general public on the 31st of January and will remain open till the 26th of March except on Mondays which are maintenance days. From the 28th of March to the 31st of March, the Gardens will be open for special categories. 
  • The garden will open for farmers on the 28th of March, for differently-abled persons on the 29th of March, for personnel of Defence Forces, Paramilitary Forces, and Police on the 30th of March, and for women including tribal women’s Self Help Groups on the 31st of March.

Nikhat Zareen to represent mining PSU NMDC as its brand ambassador                             

  • Hyderabad-based Navratna mining PSU NMDC Limited has signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with World Boxing Champion, Nikhat Zareen to represent NMDC as its brand ambassador.
  • The company in a statement said that Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist Nikhat Zareen represents the strength, courage, agility and national pride that goes with the brand of NMDC. She also represents the hopes and aspirations of New India and NMDC must become a part of her journey to the 2024 Olympics. NMDC is wholeheartedly extending its support to her as she trains and prepares for the Olympics 2024.

Khelo India Youth Games to commence on 30th January in Madhya Pradesh   

  • The next Khelo India Youth Games will kick start on the 30th of this month in Madhya Pradesh in which multiple Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) Development athletes will participate. This elevates the magnitude of the games as the TOPS athletes, who are international achievers already, will inspire the grassroots-level athletes to up the ante and provide a tough contest.
