Overview: The wait is over! As promised by the CAT authorities, the CAT 2025 official mock test is now available. Read on to check how to attempt it !

The CAT 2025 Exam is on 30th November 2025. The good news for CAT aspirants is that they can now practice and test their knowledge with the CAT 2025 official mock test.

This release comes hot on the heels of the admit cards. While this mock test offers a valuable look at the exam interface, it is important to understand its true purpose.

This is your chance to get comfortable with the look and feel of the CAT exam, but it is not a prediction of the actual test content or a practice exam that provides scores.

Key Points About the CAT Official Mock Test 2025:

  • 90% Accurate: While very close, the mock may have small glitches. The actual exam might have minor differences.
  • Previous Year Questions: The mock uses questions from past CAT exams. Do not use this mock to guess the pattern or difficulty of the 2025 exam.
  • No Scores or Solutions: After completing the mock, you will not receive a score report or detailed solutions.
  • Focus on Interface: Use this mock to learn how to move through sections, mark answers, and use the on-screen tools.

What is the Official CAT 2025 Mock Test?

The CAT 2025 official mock test is a tool to help you become familiar with the online exam environment. It acts as a replica of the computer interface you will use on exam day.

However, it is not a full-fledged practice test. It features questions from previous years and does not provide solutions or scores after you finish.

Its main goal is to show you the user interface (UI), how to navigate between questions, and how the timer works.

Important Information from the PDF

The PDF document shared by the CAT authorities contains crucial details about the mock test. It states that the mock test uses selected questions from previous years.

The goal is to make candidates familiar with different question types (e.g., Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and non-MCQ questions) and the exam interface.

The mock test lasts 120 minutes for non-PwD candidates, with 40 minutes per section. PwD candidates receive an additional 20 minutes per section.

Crucially, the PDF clarifies that the mock test does NOT reveal the actual exam pattern. This means:

❌Do not assume the number of questions in each section will be the same as in the mock.

❌Do not assume the distribution of questions (e.g., how many Logical Reasoning sets or Data Interpretation questions) will be identical.

The sequence and timing of sections are also only indicative. The CAT authorities make final decisions on these details.

Understanding the CAT 2025 Official Mock Test Interface

Getting familiar with the CAT interface is vital. Here is a breakdown of what you will see and how to use it:

CAT 2025 Official Mock Test: The Login Process

When you begin the mock, you will see a login window.

✅Your CAT Registration Number will likely be pre-filled.

✅Your password will be your Date of Birth in DDMMYY format. This information is given at the test center.

✅Use only your mouse for navigation and input. You cannot use the keyboard during the CAT exam.

✅After entering your password, click "Sign In."

CAT 2025 Official Mock Test: Instructions and Agreement

✅After signing in, a pop-up window will appear with instructions. Many candidates might be tempted to skip these, but they are critical.

Read the instructions carefully. They may provide details about the number of Reading Comprehension passages, the number of Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation sets, or specific rules for answering questions.

✅You will need to agree to a declaration. This agreement usually states that you will not share exam questions publicly. Sharing questions can lead to penalties, including fines.

✅Once you have read and understood, click "Next" and then "Ready to Begin."

CAT 2025 Official Mock Test: The Test Screen Layout

The actual test screen has several key areas:

Question Panel: This is where the questions appear.

Navigation Panel: On the right side, this panel shows all the question numbers. Different colors indicate the status of each question (e.g., not visited, visited, answered, marked for review).

Timer: A countdown timer keeps track of your remaining time for the current section.

Tools: You will find options for an on-screen calculator and a digital scratchpad.

CAT 2025 Official Mock Test: Important Features and Tips

Let's look at the specific features of the CAT 2025 mock interface and how to use them effectively.

Watermarks: A Potential Concern

A noticeable feature in the current mock is the presence of large, bold watermarks over the questions.

This has raised concerns because it can make questions harder to read, especially for candidates with vision issues.

There have been requests to the IIM authorities to reduce the boldness or increase the transparency of these watermarks.

  • If you encounter double watermarks: Sometimes, clicking on a question can cause a double watermark to appear. Simply click elsewhere on the screen, and it should revert to a single watermark.
  • Do not panic: If the watermarks remain bold in the actual exam, stay calm. Focus on reading the questions carefully and do your best. Everyone will face the same situation. CAT Online Coaching

CAT 2025 Official Mock Test: Using Navigation and Marking Questions

Proper navigation and marking are critical to managing your time.

Save & Next: This is the most important button for answering questions. If you solve a question, you must click "Save & Next" to register your answer. Just clicking on an option and moving to the next question will not save your response.

Mark for Review & Next: Use this option if you want to revisit a question later. It saves your current answer (if any) and marks the question for review. If you don't return to it, your saved answer will still be counted.

Clear Response: This button clears any answer you have selected for the current question.

Previous Question: Go back to the previous question.

CAT 2025 Official Mock Test: Question Paper View

The interface includes a "Question Paper View" option.

✅Clicking this allows you to see all questions in the current section at a glance.

✅It gives you a quick overview of the passages (for RC) or the general scope of questions.

✅This feature can help you strategize which questions to attempt first, especially in sections like VARC or LRDI.

CAT 2025 Official Mock Test: The On-Screen Calculator

The CAT exam includes a basic on-screen calculator.

✅It has standard functions like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square root, and percentage.

✅A new "Copy" feature has been added, but its practical use is currently unclear since you cannot paste using the keyboard.

✅Use the "Memory Clear" and "Memory Return" buttons for longer calculations.

✅Practice using this calculator during your mock tests to become comfortable with it.

CAT 2025 Official Mock Test: Scratchpad and Zoom (for PwD Candidates)

Scratchpad: The mock provides a digital scratchpad, but it is generally not very useful for complex calculations or rough work. Stick to the physical scratchpad provided at the test center.

Zoom Option: For PwD candidates, especially those with blindness or low vision, an extra zoom option is available. This allows them to enlarge or reduce the text on the screen. Other candidates do not have this zoom feature.

Section Shifting and Submission

One crucial difference between the official mock and the actual CAT exam is how sections are handled:

  • Mock Test: The mock has an enabled "Submit" button for each section. This allows you to proceed to the next section even before the allotted 40 minutes for the current section are over.
  • Actual Exam: In the real CAT exam, the "Submit" button for sections is disabled. You cannot shift between sections manually.
  • The system will automatically move you to the next section once your 40 minutes for the current section are up. This means you must manage your time carefully within each section.

After completing all sections, you will submit your exam. A window will appear showing your attempts. Confirm your submission, and your exam will be completed. Avoid wasting time on feedback questions after submission.

Comparison to CAT 2024 Mock

Looking back at the CAT 2024 mock can provide some context. The 2024 official mock had a user interface that was very close to the actual CAT exam that year.

However, the 2024 mock did not have the bold watermarks seen in the current 2025 mock. The actual CAT 2024 exam did have watermarks, but they were much less prominent.

This makes the bold watermarks in the current 2025 mock a point of discussion.

Instructions in the Actual Exam

The instruction page in the actual CAT exam is very important. Beyond general rules, it often provides specific details about the exam structure:

  • Number of Questions: It can tell you how many Reading Comprehension passages there are, or how many Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation sets are included.
  • Question Types: It might specify whether non-MCQ questions only accept whole numbers and how to input decimal answers (e.g., if the answer is 50.0, enter 50). Always read this carefully to avoid silly mistakes.

Conclusion

The CAT 2025 official mock test is a critical tool for familiarizing yourself with the exam environment. Even with current glitches like bold watermarks, it helps you understand the interface and prepare mentally for the actual test day.

Do not use this mock to practice actual questions or to predict the exam pattern. Instead, focus on understanding the navigation, using the on-screen tools, and getting comfortable with the overall look and feel.

Remember to read all instructions carefully, use the "Save & Next" button correctly, and manage your time within each section. Your preparation for CAT 2025 starts now.
