NLSIU was the first National Law University established in India in 1986 with an aim to anchor the transformation of the Indian legal system through research and policy interventions.

NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad

The institute was established in 1998 by an Act of the Andhra Pradesh State Legislature. NALSAR, Hyderabad is an autonomous and public-funded premier varsity for legal studies.
