Symbiosis International University Announces Significant Changes to SLAT Examination Format
Symbiosis International University has made a groundbreaking announcement regarding the Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT), which will impact thousands of law aspirants across the country. In a move aimed at streamlining the admission process and providing a more focused assessment of candidates, Symbiosis Law School has eliminated the Writing Ability Test (WAT) from the SLAT examination.
Symbiosis Law School is renowned for offering high-quality legal education and is considered one of India's most prestigious private law universities. The school offers a range of programs, including B.A LL. B (Hons), B.B.A LL. B (Hons), B.A LL. B, and B.B.A LL. B, all of which are affiliated with institutes of Symbiosis International (Deemed University).
Candidates aspiring to join these programs will now undergo a common, mandatory Computer-Based Test (CBT) as part of the admission process. The CBT, formerly known as SET-Law, has been rebranded as the Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) since 2018. SLAT is conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, with examination centers located across various cities in India. These centers include Symbiosis Law School campuses in Pune, Noida, Hyderabad, and Nagpur.
SLAT 2024 will consist of two rounds, with examination dates set for May 5th and May 11th, 2024. Aspiring candidates must complete their registrations by April 12th, 2024. Admit cards will be available for download on April 25th and April 30th, respectively. The results are expected to be released on May 22nd, 2024.
One of the most significant changes to the SLAT examination structure is the elimination of the Writing Ability Test (WAT). Previously, the examination comprised 50% weightage for the Written Test, 20% for WAT, and 30% for the Personal Interview (PI).
Under the revised format, the written examination will now carry 70% weightage, increased from the previous 50%. Additionally, 30% will be allocated to the Personal Interview (PI), and notably, there will be no Writing Ability Test (WAT). Only shortlisted candidates from the SLAT Written Examination will proceed to the Personal Interview round.
This transformative change aims to simplify the admission process while still ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of candidates' aptitude for pursuing legal education at Symbiosis Law School. The modification is expected to make the SLAT examination more focused and efficient for both applicants and the institution.
Prospective law students are advised to keep these changes in mind as they prepare for the upcoming SLAT 2024 examination. The university remains committed to providing a fair and transparent admission process, fostering the next generation of legal scholars and practitioners in India.
