Overview: Supergrads interviewed IIM Kozhikode officials to provide key insights into the newly launched BMS program. Check out why it's a big chance for you.
In an insightful interaction with Supergrads, IIM Kozhikode's senior officials uncovered the key details behind the institute's newly launched 4-year Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) program, which will begin in the academic year 2025-26.
The interview features Professor Anandakuttan B Unnithan (Dean, Programs) and Mr. Sreekanth Narayanan (Head of Admissions).
Both officials provided an in-depth overview of the program's structure, purpose, and future opportunities for aspiring students.
Here is what the officials say about the program.
IIM Kozhikode's BMS program is unique. It is fully aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The program offers a multi-exit structure:
Students can major in core management areas, such as Finance, Marketing, and Strategy.
They can even choose minors from interdisciplinary domains, such as Data Science, Psychology, Public Policy, Economics, and foreign languages.
For the first cohort of the BMS program, the batch strength will be 120 students.
It will comply with the Government of India's constitutional reservation norms.
The entrance test for IIM Kozhikode's BMS program will be a computer-based (CBT) test in collaboration with TCS. The duration will be 2 hrs.
The test will consist of two sections: Quantitative Aptitude (QA) and Verbal Ability (VA). There will be no separate Logical Reasoning (LR) or Data Interpretation (DI) section.
Admission into the BMS program will be through the IPMAT exam, followed by a personal interview that evaluates communication skills, clarity of thought, and career intent.
The ideal candidate is someone with a genuine passion for management, not someone seeking a backup to engineering or science streams.
BMS students will be completely immersed in the dynamic IIM Kozhikode campus life, including:
Supergrads also explored career opportunities with the officials.
IIMK will have dedicated placement support for BMS students and its flagship MBA program.
The program leverages IIMK's vast alumni network to offer mentorship and career guidance.
Though it's early to project the average salaries, faculty members are optimistic that students will graduate with competitive job offers, leadership skills, and entrepreneurial insights.
The officials advised students to choose the program based on passion, not peer pressure.
"Don't choose BMS as a fallback for IIT or NIT. Choose it because you are driven to lead, manage, and make a difference in business and society," advised Prof. Anand.
The IIM Kozhikode BMS offers flexibility unprecedented in any other programme.
The students can create their journey with core management principles and electives in various fields.
This program, supported by robust industry ties, a dedicated alumni base, and a future-focused curriculum, prepares students to develop impactful roles in business and society.
