UGC Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar announced a significant change in this year’s CUET 2024 exam. He declared that no more normalization process will be followed for calculating CUET scores this year.

Around 13.48 lakh students will appear for the CUET UG 2024 exam, which will be conducted in a single shift for each subject until 24th May 2024.

What is the Normalization of Scores?

The National Testing Agency has used the normalization process for the CUET Exam till now. However, from this year, the process has been abolished.

  • The authorities use normalization to adjust scores when exams are conducted in multiple shifts with different papers.
  • The process is used to make scores comparable for different exam sessions. However, students have raised concerns regarding how the process impacts their exam performance.

Hence, the move to abolish the normalization of scores has been made due to the adoption of the OMR mode for the exam. This will ensure transparency and fairness in the single-day examination.

"This year, no normalization of scores will be necessary as both exams will be conducted in a single shift for each subject," M. Jagadesh Kumar stated.
