खेल मंत्री किरेन रिजिजू ने फिट इंडिया साइक्लोथॉन का दूसरा संस्करण लॉन्च किया

• हाल ही में खेल मंत्री किरेन रिजिजू ने सोशल मीडिया के माध्यम से फिट इंडिया साइक्लोथॉन का दूसरा संस्करण लॉन्च किया है। यह मेगा साइकिलिंग कार्यक्रम 31 दिसंबर तक चलेगा।
• यह इवेंट देश भर के प्रत्येक जिले में आयोजित किया जाएगा। लोग नागरिक फिट इंडिया वेबसाइट पर पंजीकरण करके, रोजाना साइकलिंग इवेंट में भाग ले सकते हैं, और अपनी तस्वीरें और वीडियो सोशल मीडिया पर साझा कर सकते हैं। वे @FitIndiaOff को टैग कर सकते हैं और FitIndiaCyclothon और #NewIndiaFitIndia हैशटैग का उपयोग कर सकते हैं।
• यह आन्दोलन 29 अगस्त 2019 को मोदी द्वारा शुरू किया गया था, यह आंदोलन 29 अगस्त को राष्ट्रीय खेल दिवस पर शुरू किया गया था। यह दिवस देश में मेजर ध्यानचंद की जयंती के उपलक्ष्य में मनाया जाता है, जिन्होंने अपने खेल कौशल और तकनीक से दुनिया को मंत्रमुग्ध किया था।

पीएम मोदी ने वीडियो कांफ्रेसिंग के जरिए किया आगरा मेट्रो रेल परियोजना का शिलान्यास

• प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने उत्तर प्रदेश के आगरा में आगरा मेट्रो परियोजना के निर्माण कार्य का उद्घाटन किया है। कुल 29.4 किमी लंबी आगरा मेट्रो परियोजना में 2 मार्गो का निर्माण शामिल हैं। यह ताजमहल, आगरा किला, सिकंदरा जैसे प्रमुख पर्यटक आकर्षणों को रेलवे स्टेशनों और बस स्टैंडों से जोड़ेगा।
• इस परियोजना की अनुमानित लागत लगभग 8,379.62 करोड़ रुपये होगी। इसे 5 साल में पूरा किया जाएगा।
• उत्तर प्रदेश मेट्रो रेल कॉर्पोरेशन (UPMRC) ने आगरा मेट्रो रेल परियोजना के पहले चरण को दिसंबर 2022 तक पूरा करने का लक्ष्य रखा है।
• एक बार चालू होने के बाद, परियोजना शहर की 26 लाख आबादी के लिए `ईज़ ऑफ लिविंग` को बढ़ावा देगी और हर साल आगरा आने वाले 60 लाख से अधिक पर्यटकों को भी सुविधा देगी।
• इसके यह शहर को पर्यावरण के अनुकूल मास रैपिड ट्रांजिट सिस्टम भी प्रदान करेगा।

 केंद्र सरकार ने GST टैक्सपेयर्स के लिए शुरू की QRMP योजना

• केंद्र सरकार ने GST प्रणाली के अंर्तगत आने वाले छोटे करदाताओं के लिए त्रैमासिक रिटर्न फाइलिंग और मासिक भुगतान कर (Quarterly Return filing & Monthly Payment of Taxes) योजना की शुरूआर की है। पूर्ववर्ती वित्तीय वर्ष में 5 करोड़ रुपये तक के कुल वार्षिक कारोबार वाले करदाताओं और 30 नवंबर, 2020 तक अपना अक्टूबर GSTR-3B (बिक्री) रिटर्न जमा करने वाले इस योजना के लिए पात्र होंगे। इस संबंध में अधिसूचनाएं केंद्रीय अप्रत्यक्ष कर और सीमा शुल्क बोर्ड (Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs) द्वारा जारी की गई है।
• पांच करोड़ रुपये तक का कुल टर्नओवर वाले टैक्सपेयर को अपनी GSTR-1 और GSTR-3B रिटर्न को तिमाही के आधार पर भरने की अनुमति दी जाएगी, जो 2020-21 के जनवरी-मार्च तिमाही से शुरू हुआ है।
• त्रैमासिक GSTR-1 और GSTR-3B को SMS के माध्यम से भी दायर किया जा सकता है।
• करदाता 1 जनवरी 2021 से हर महीने जीएसटी का भुगतान चालान के माध्यम से कर सकते हैं।
• ऐसा मासिक देयता के स्व-मूल्यांकन या तिमाही के पिछले दायर जीएसटीआर -3 बी के नेट नकदी दायित्व के 35% से किया जा सकता है।
• इसके अंतर्गत, पंजीकृत व्यक्ति अथवा करदाता केंद्रीय वस्तु एवं सेवा कर नियम, 2017 के नियम 61A के उप-नियम (1) के तहत हर तिमाही में रिटर्न प्रस्तुत करेगा और इसी अधिनियम की धारा 39 की उप-धारा (7) के तहत मासिक कर का भुगतान करेगा।
• उपरोक्त संशोधन के बाद, अधिनियम को केंद्रीय माल और सेवा कर (तेरहवें संशोधन) नियम, 2020 के रूप में नामित किया गया है।

ऑल इंडिया रेडियो के लेखक मधुकर गंगाधर का निधन

• प्रख्यात हिंदी लेखक मधुकर गंगाधर का निधन। वह नई कहानी अभियान के प्रमुख कहानीकार थे। वह पटना आकाशवाणी में रेणुजी के सहयोगी थे, साथ ही इलाहाबाद में ऑल इंडिया रेडियो के निदेशक और दिल्ली आकाशवाणी में उप महानिदेशक थे।
• ऑल इंडिया रेडियो (AIR) में 39 वर्षों तक सेवा देने के बाद वह दिल्ली में एक स्वतंत्र लेखक बन गए। 'मोतियों वाले हाथ', 'हिरन की आंखें' उनकी सबसे प्रसिद्ध रचनाएँ हैं।

अनिल सोनी को डब्ल्यूएचओ फाउंडेशन के पहले सीईओ के रूप मे नियुक्त किया गया

• अमेरिका स्थित भारतीय मूल के स्वास्थ्य विशेषज्ञ, अनिल सोनी को नव-निर्मित "द वर्ल्ड हेल्थ ऑर्गनाइजेशन (WHO) फाउंडेशन" का पहला मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी (CEO) नियुक्त किया गया है। इससे पहले, वह अमेरिका में ग्लोबल हेल्थकेयर कंपनी वियाट्रिस के साथ काम कर रहे थे, जहां उन्होंने हेड ऑफ ग्लोबल इंफेक्शियस डिजीज के रूप में काम किया। वह 1 जनवरी 2021 से सीईओ के रूप में अपनी भूमिका ग्रहण करेंगे।
• डब्ल्यूएचओ और वैश्विक स्वास्थ्य समुदाय के साथ काम करने के लिए डब्ल्यूएचओ फाउंडेशन को मई 2020 में जिनेवा, स्विट्जरलैंड में स्थित एक स्वतंत्र अनुदान-निर्माण एजेंसी के रूप में लॉन्च किया गया था, जो कि वैश्विक स्वास्थ्य चुनौतियों का सामना करने के लिए सबसे महत्वपूर्ण है।

• भ्रष्टाचार विरोधी जन जागरूकता के लिए 9 दिसंबर को प्रतिवर्ष अंतर्राष्ट्रीय भ्रष्टाचार निरोधक दिवस मनाया जाता है। 31 अक्टूबर 2003 को संयुक्त राष्ट्र कन्वेंशन अगेंस्ट करप्शन के पारित होने के बाद से यह दिन मनाया जाता है।
• अंतर्राष्ट्रीय भ्रष्टाचार निरोधक दिवस 2020 का विषय: एकता के साथ सहयोग करें। ’विषय भ्रष्टाचार शमन के माध्यम से वसूली पर केंद्रित है।

राज कमल झा ने जीता रवींद्रनाथ टैगोर साहित्यिक पुरस्कार

• पत्रकार-लेखक राज कमल झा ने अपने उपन्यास "The City and The Sea" के लिए तीसरा रवींद्रनाथ टैगोर साहित्य पुरस्कार जीता है। C-19 महामारी के चलते डेनमार्क के कोपेनहेगन में 5,000 अमेरिकी डॉलर के पुरस्कार की ऑनलाइन घोषणा की गई।
• झा की पुस्तक, जो दिसंबर 2012 के निर्भया बलात्कार और हत्या के मामले पर आधारित है, को अमिताव घोष के Gun Island, निर्मला गोविंदराजन के Taboo and Ranjit Hoskote’s Jonahwhale सहित दस शॉर्टलिस्ट पुस्तकों में से चुना गया था।
• सोशल अचीवमेंट 2020 का रवींद्रनाथ टैगोर साहित्य पुरस्कार ओमान के दिवंगत सुल्तान और द पीपुल ऑफ़ ओमान महामहिम सुल्तान कबूस बिन सईद अल सैद को प्रदान किया गया।
• प्रसिद्ध भारतीय कोरियोग्राफर संदीप सोपरकर ने अपनी पहल डांस फॉर ए कॉज़ के माध्यम से समाज की बेहतरी के लिए अपने योगदान के लिए भी पुरस्कार जीता।

ICAR को साल 2020 के राजा भूमिबोल विश्व मृदा दिवस पुरस्कार से किया जाएगा सम्मानित

• भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान परिषद (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) ने प्रतिष्ठित अंतर्राष्ट्रीय राजा भूमिबोल विश्व मृदा दिवस पुरस्कार 2020 जीता है। यह पुरस्कार खाद्य और कृषि संगठन (FAO) द्वारा प्रतिवर्ष प्रदान किया जाता है। यह पुरस्कार आईसीएआर को विश्व मृदा दिवस के अवसर पर 5 दिसंबर को प्रदान किया गया था। आईसीएआर इंडिया को आधिकारिक तौर पर यह पुरस्कार जनवरी 2021 में बैंकाक में एक कार्यक्रम के दौरान थाईलैंड की रॉयल हाईनेस प्रिन्सेस महा चक्री सिकिनधोर्न द्वारा प्रदान किया जाएगा।
• आईसीएआर को 2019 में विश्व मृदा दिवस समारोह में स्वस्थ मृदा के महत्व के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए अपनी प्रतिबद्धता के लिए पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया है, जिसने “Stop soil erosion, save our future” (मिट्टी के कटाव को रोको, हमारा भविष्य बचाओ) के तहत मिट्टी के कटाव की समस्या को संबोधित किया था।
• इस कार्यक्रम का आयोजन भोपाल स्थित भारतीय मृदा विज्ञान संस्थान द्वारा किया गया था, जो उच्च शिक्षा के लिए एक स्वायत्त संस्थान था, जिसे भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान परिषद की छत्रछाया में स्थापित किया गया था।

जलवायु परिवर्तन प्रदर्शन सूचकांक में भारत ने हासिल किया 10वां स्थान

• हाल ही में भारत ने जलवायु परिवर्तन प्रदर्शन सूचकांक (CCPI) जारी किया गया, भारत ने इस सूचकांक में 10वां स्थान प्राप्त किया है। 2019 में भारत इस सूचकांक में 9वें स्थान पर था।
• भारत ने CCPI की सभी श्रेणियों में उच्च रेटिंग प्राप्त की है। अक्षय ऊर्जा श्रेणी में भारत का प्रदर्शन मध्यम है। सीसीपीआई को न्यू क्लाइमेट इंस्टीट्यूट और क्लाइमेट एक्शन नेटवर्क (CAN) के सहयोग से जारी किया गया है। इस रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि भारत को नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा पर अधिक ध्यान देने की आवश्यकता है। इस रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, कोई भी देश 2015 के पेरिस समझौते के लक्ष्यों को पूरा करने के लिए पर्याप्त प्रयास नहीं कर रहा है।
• CCPI एक स्वतंत्र मोनिटरिंग टूल है। यह देशों के जलवायु संरक्षण प्रदर्शन को ट्रैक करता है। यह सूचकांक 2005 से प्रकाशित किया जा रहा है। यह सूचकांक देशों की जलवायु नीति, ग्रीनहाउस गैस के वर्तमान उत्सर्जन स्तर, ऊर्जा के उपयोग इत्यादि की जानकारी प्रदान करता। यह सूचकांक चार श्रेणियों के तहत देशों का आकलन करता है – ग्रीनहाउस गैस उत्सर्जन, ऊर्जा उपयोग, नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा और जलवायु नीति।
• इस सूचकांक में 6 G20 देशों को बहुत कम प्रदर्शन करने देशों की सूची में शामिल किया गया है। अमेरिका 61 रैंक के साथ सबसे खराब प्रदर्शन करने वाला देश है। भारत ने 100 में से 63.98 अंक प्राप्त किये हैं। 2019 में, भारत 66.02 के स्कोर के साथ नौवें स्थान पर था।
• भारत में प्रति व्यक्ति उत्सर्जन दर काफी कम है। भारत और मैक्सिको, ब्राजील, इंडोनेशिया और जर्मनी सहित अन्य देशों को ‘ऊर्जा उपयोग’ श्रेणी में अपने प्रदर्शन के लिए ‘उच्च’ स्थान दिया गया है।

Kiren Rijiju launches 2nd edition of Fit India Cyclothon

• Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju has launched the second edition of Fit India Cyclothon through a virtual platform. The mega cycling event will run for 25 days, beginning from 7th December till 31st December 2020. The event has been organised across the country in each district. The citizens can participate by registering on Fit India website.
• The participants can cycle daily for a distance of their choice, and share their images and videos on social media. They may also tag @FitIndiaOff and use the hashtag – FitIndiaCyclothon and #NewIndiaFitIndia.

PM Modi virtually inaugurates Construction work of Agra Metro project

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the construction work of the Agra Metro project in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. The Agra Metro project comprises 2 corridors with a total length of 29.4 km. It would connect major tourist attractions like Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Sikandra with railway stations and bus stands.
• The estimated cost of the project will be around Rs 8,379.62 crore. It will be completed in 5 years.
• The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has set the target to complete the first phase of the Agra Metro Rail Project by December 2022.
• Once operational, the project will boost `Ease of Living` of the 26 lakh population of the city and also cater to more than 60 lakh tourists who visit Agra every year.
• It will also provide an environment-friendly Mass Rapid Transit System to the city.

 Centre Launches QRMP scheme for GST payers

• The Central Government has launched ‘Quarterly Return filing & Monthly Payment of Taxes (QRMP)’ scheme for small taxpayers under the GST system. Taxpayers with an aggregate annual turnover of up to Rs 5 crore in the preceding financial year and have filed their October GSTR-3B (sales) return by November 30, 2020, are eligible for this scheme. The notifications for the same were issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).
• Persons with aggregate turnover up to Rs 5 crore would be allowed to furnish their GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B returns on a quarterly basis, beginning January-March quarter of 2020-21.

Quarterly GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B can also be filed through an SMS.

• Taxpayers can also make GST payments every month, through challan, with effect from January 1, 2021.
• This can be done either by self-assessment of monthly liability or 35% of net cash liability of previous filed GSTR-3B of the quarter.
• Under this, the registered person or a taxpayer will furnish a return for every quarter, under sub-rule (1) of rule 61A of the Central Goods and Services Tax Rules, 2017 and pay the monthly tax under sub-section (7) of section 39 of the same Act.
• After the above changes, the act is named as the Central Goods and Services Tax (Thirteenth Amendment) Rules, 2020.

All India Radio writer Madhukar Gangadhar passes away

• Eminent Hindi writer, Madhukar Gangadhar passed away. He was the lead storyteller of the new story movement. He was an associate of Renuji in Patna Akashvani, director of All India Radio in Allahabad & Deputy Director General at Delhi AIR.
• After serving for 39 years in All India Radio (AIR) he became an independent writer based in Delhi. ‘Motiyo Wale Hath’, ‘Hirna Ki Aankhen’ are some of his most well-known works.

 APPOINTMENTS AND RESIGNATIONS

Anil Soni appointed first CEO of The WHO Foundation

• US-based Indian-origin health expert, Anil Soni has been appointed as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the newly-created “The World Health Organization (WHO) Foundation”. Before this, he was working with Viatris, a global healthcare company in the US, where he served as Head of Global Infectious Diseases. He will assume his role as CEO with effect from 1st January 2021.
• The WHO Foundation was launched in May 2020 as an independent grant-making agency, based in Geneva, Switzerland, to work alongside the WHO and the global health community to address the most pressing global health challenges.

International Anti-Corruption Day: 09 December

• International Anti-Corruption Day is observed annually on 9 December to raise public awareness for anti-corruption. The day is observed since the passage of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption on 31 October 2003.
• The theme of International Anti-Corruption Day 2020: ‘RECOVER with INTEGRITY.’ The theme focuses on recovery through corruption mitigation and emphasizes that inclusive C-19 recovery can only be achieved with integrity.

Raj Kamal Jha wins Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize

• Journalist-author, Raj Kamal Jha has won the 3rd Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize for his novel, “The City and The Sea”. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the winner of the $5,000 prize was announced online in Copenhagen, Denmark.
• Jha’s book, which is based on the December 2012 Nirbhaya rape and murder case, was chosen from ten shortlisted books including Amitav Ghosh’s Gun Island, Nirmala Govindarajan’s Taboo and Ranjit Hoskote’s Jonahwhale.
• The Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize for Social Achievement 2020 was conferred to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said, the late Sultan of Oman and The People of Oman,
• Renowned Indian choreographer Sandip Soparrkar for his contribution to the betterment of society through his initiative Dance for a Cause.

 ICAR wins 2020 King Bhumibol World Soil Day Award

• The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), has won the prestigious International King Bhumibol World Soil Day Award for 2020. The award was presented annually by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The award was conferred to the ICAR on the occasion of World Soil Day, on December 5. ICAR India will officially receive the award by Her Royal Highness, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand, during an event in Bangkok in January 2021.
• ICAR has been conferred the award for its commitment to raising awareness of the importance of healthy soils at the World Soil Day celebration in 2019, which addressed soil erosion under the motto “Stop soil erosion, save our future”.
• The programme was organised by Bhopal-based Indian Institute of Soil Science, an autonomous institute for higher learning, established under the umbrella of Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

 RANKING

India Ranks 10th in the Climate Change Performance Index 2021

• India is ranked at 10th place in the ‘Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) 2021’, released on 7th December 2020. The overall score of India is 63.98. It is for the second time in a row that India emerged among the top 10 countries with higher climate performance from among 58 economies. India was at 9th spot last year in the index.
• Like CCPI 2020, the first three places in 2021 ranking also remains unoccupied, since none of the countries is on the path compatible with the Paris climate targets, to implement strategies to limit global warming below 2 or even 1.5°C. Sweden (4th) United Kingdom (5th), Denmark (6th), Morocco (7th), Norway (8th), Chile (9th) were among the top 10 rankers in the index. It was also noted that, from the G20 countries, only the EU as a whole, along with the UK and India, ranked among high performers.
