Briton, nicknamed ‘Hardest Geezer’, becomes first person to run length of Africa

  • British national Russ Cook, known as the “Hardest Geezer,” has successfully completed a challenging trek that took him over 352 days to finish.
  • During his journey, he covered more than 10,000 miles, passed through 16 countries, and took over 19 million steps. 

Simon Harris Becomes Ireland’s Youngest Prime Minister

  • Simon Harris, aged 37, has been elected as Ireland’s youngest-ever prime minister, succeeding Leo Varadkar who resigned last month.

  • The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)’s Chandrayaan-3 mission team has been awarded the 2024 John L. “Jack” Swigert, Jr. Award for Space Exploration by the US-based Space Foundation.
  • The Chandrayaan-3 mission, launched by ISRO on July 14, 2023, was a groundbreaking achievement for India. 

GUJCOST Designated as Nodal Centre for ISRO’s START Programme

  • GUJCOST has been appointed as the Nodal Centre for ISRO’s START programme, aimed at nurturing aspiring scientists and engineers in the field of space science and technology.
  • Under the START programme, GUJCOST will conduct live classes, acting as the central hub for knowledge dissemination.
  • The inaugural online programme, titled “Exploration of Solar System,” invites registrations until April 19.
