CUET 2024 is scheduled from 15 May to 31 May 2024. Registrations have closed, and this year, around 13.5 lakh students have registered for the exam, 10% less than the total registrations in 2023.

While the number of registrations may be less than last year, this is good news for you in the journey to your dream college and course. Keep reading to know why!

Latest CUET 2024 Exam Pattern

The CUET 2024 exam has some chnages in its exam pattern this year. This year, you were only allowed to choose a maximum of up to 6 subjects instead of 10, unlike last year.

Also, 2 new subjects, Fashion Design and Tourism, were added to the list of 27 existing domain subjects, bringing the total number to 29 this year.

This might seem like a restriction, but it's beneficial for you. Here's how:

  • You can now focus more on the truly important subjects for your desired course of study.
  • You can now have a more targeted approach to the exam.

This means that even though overall registrations are less than last year, the number of applications for each individual subject has increased.

Considering these aspects, the exam is expected to be more competitive this year.

What are the most popular CUET subjects?

Unlike in previous years, English and General Test have been preferred.

This is because these are mandatory subjects in many CUET-participating universities, and students must pass them to be eligible for the maximum number of programmes they offer.

Science subjects were also popular, all receiving many applications.

Subjects No. of Applications (2024) No. of Applications (2023)
Chemistry 7,01,750 5,04,496
Physics 6,72,773 4,82,239
Maths 4,86,365 3,79,027

Which are the Top 3 Preferred CUET Universities?

Delhi University (DU) was the most popular university, followed by Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar University in Lucknow.

The CUET Cut-off is expected to be higher this year considering the high number of applications.

The number of registrations for each of these universities is as follows:

CUET University No. Of Applications Received
Delhi University 25,96,106
Banaras Hindu University 8,41,457
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar University 5,12,588

  • Check the official CUET website to stay updated with the release dates of the CUET Admit Card and city intimation slips.
