What is the XAT exam?
- The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) is an all-India-level management entrance examination for admission to the prestigious Xavier School of Management (XLRI) and various other associated management institutes.
- For more than 74 years, XLRI has been conducting the XAT exam at all India levels to select the most appropriate candidate for management education.
- The XAT exam is conducted every year in January by XLRI on behalf of XLRI Associate Member Institutes (XAMI).
- More than 160 institutes are using XAT exam scores for admission.

XAT Registration Process 2025
The XAT exam registration will begin once the notification for 2025 will be released by XLRI (Xavier School of Management) for admission into management courses in India. Here are the steps you need to follow for the XAT registration for 2025:
1. Visit the official website of XLRI & fill out the XAT registration or application form online.
- Visit www.xatonline.in/registration and click on "Register." Enter your Name, Email ID, and contact details, and set a password. A system-generated email/message will be sent to you. You should save the XAT exam registration details for future communication.
- A candidate must verify his email by clicking on the link and proceed to complete the XAT exam registration process.
2. Upload the relevant documents required for XAT registration such as graduation certificates, identity proofs, and other documents as notified. The candidate is supposed to upload a photo, signature and ID proof. Click on the declaration and verify the details thoroughly before submitting the XAT exam registration or application form.
Photograph Image Instructions for XAT exam Registration:
- The photograph must be a recent passport-size colour picture.
- The picture should be in colour, against a light colour, preferably white, background.
- Look straight at the camera with a relaxed face.
- If the picture is taken on a sunny day, have the sun behind you, or place yourself in the shade so that you are not squinting and there are no harsh shadows.
- If you must use flash, ensure there's no "red-eye".
- If you wear glasses, ensure no reflections and your eyes can be seen.
- Caps, hats and dark glasses are not acceptable. Religious headwear is allowed, but it must not cover your face.
- Dimensions 200 x 230 pixels (preferred).
- The file should be between 20KB-50KB.
- Ensure that the size of the scanned image is at most 50KB. If the file is larger than 50KB, adjust the scanner settings, such as the DPI resolution, number of colours, etc., during the scanning process.
3. Pay the XAT registration fees using online payment modes.
Payment of Fees for XAT exam registration:
- XAT Registration Fees Rs. 2000/-
- Candidates interested in XLRI programs must pay an additional fee of Rs. 200/-each.
- Indian Candidates are applying for GMP through GMAT. 2500/-
- NRI/Foreign Candidates applying for one or more programs through GMAT- Rs. 5000/-
5. Receive the XAT exam Admit Card and take the printout for future reference. Candidates may download the XAT exam admit Card from www.xatonline.in. right after completing the XAT exam registration process.
6. Appear at the centre on your scheduled XAT exam date.
- Once the XAT registration is complete and the candidate is accepted, they should refer to the official exam schedule for details of the XAT exam date and location.
- The individual should then make all the necessary travel arrangements to reach the location specified in the XAT exam date details.
- It is also important to carry the admit Card and other documents, such as identification proofs, photocopies of the XAT exam registration form, pencils, erasers, and sharpeners, to the exam centre.
- On arrival at the location, they should follow the instructions given by the invigilator.
7. After the exam, keep track of the updates provided by XLRI for the XAT exam date for results. Visit the official website for more updates after the XAT exam date.
8. Qualified candidates must attend the Group Discussion/Personal Interview round. This is a key component of any recruitment or selection process. Following are the essential additional instructions that you must follow before and while applying for the XAT registration:
- Before Applying for XAT exam registration process: Ensure you have digital copies of your photo and signature per the required specifications.
- Editing in XAT exam registration form: You can edit your application and re-upload your photo/signature.
- Payment Instructions for XAT registration: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete payment via Debit/Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, or Mobile Wallets.
- Wait After XAT registration Payment: Refrain from refreshing or returning to avoid double payment. Wait for the server to confirm the transaction.
- Receipt Confirmation: Successful payment generates an e-receipt. If you don't get one, your payment might have failed, and you should try again.
- Printouts: Print the e-receipt and filled the application form. Transactions without an e-receipt were likely unsuccessful.
- International Cards: Charges are in Indian Rupees. Non-Indian cards will be charged at the current exchange rate by your bank.
